Thandie Newton worked a gamine chic look to promote One Billion Rising, a global movement aimed at ending violence towards women, at ICA in London yesterday.
The British actress looked effortlessly cool in a black Isabel Marant suit paired with a vintage flower print shirt.
Everything looked great…until my eyes hit the shoes.
The colour and style of these Burberry boots ruined this look for me.
The cropped pant’s silhouette fit awkwardly over these heavy-looking boots. I would have styled this suit with a pair of ankle boots, or better yet, a simple pointy toe pump to feminize this masculine ensemble.

I love the whole look except for the boots, which don’t kill it for me I just don’t like the way the pants hit them.
Exactly my point. I don’t mind the shoes much, but the way pants hit the boots.
Apart from that I am in lovee with this!
+1
My first thought was “She looks so lovely… but those boots.” Nevertheless, she looks so fresh, rested and down to earth here. Just lovely.

I thought the boots looks good with the whole ensemble.I think she totally pull it off.
Them shoes gotta go.
The suit looks charcoal in the photo. I don’t mind the pairing of boots with the suit but in a dark burgandy or matching black/grey colour.
The shoes are so wrong. I also don’t like the necklace.
she’s so beautiful! sigh! there’s some kind of an ethereal glow coming out of her all the time…i don’t like the boots too…but it’s fine, she’s too beautiful to not pull it off.
I would’ve preferred a nice pair of kitten heels with the cropped pants. But when she’s glowing like that, it barely matters. Her smile just made my morning.
So very cute and chic from the thighs up. Those boots with the pants are just not working.
Her hair is just amazing.
She looks to me like she would fit right in with the ICA crowd – boots and all. Personally, I love the whole look.
The rest is nice, but those boots are terrible: they don’t work with the outfit and they look dated, like ’90s or early 2000s.
She looks so beautiful… and glowing!! She looks like she spent the day in the spa. I cannot look past the face!
love everything but the boots, wld go with ankle boots as well, and diff color too.but still she looks amazing,so cute, fresh and beautiful
She looks great here; I love it when she wears her curls. I love the outfit and I think the boots work. Perhaps a bit better sit at the junction of boot to pant but I still think this look is a big win.
i like this look and i love those boots, she is definitely selling them to me.. she looks gorgeous without trying to hard
I actually love the boots, too. Very quirky outfit.
This is the kind of stuff I refer to when I complain about Jennifer Lawrence dressing ‘too old’. Actresses twice her age have more fun with fashion.
My problem isn’t the boots but the pants. If they were longer down to her ankles this would look better. I love everything else.
Yeah, the boots are jarring given the rest of the look. It’s a great outfit otherwise and she looks just beautiful. Love her hair.
It’s a little bit 90′s…
The suit is charcoal, and not black. The boots look perfect with the suit. I am currently looking for a similar pair so I can copy the look. It’s beyond perfect. Good job, Thandie!
