Alice Englert In Elie Saab Couture – ‘Beautiful Creatures’ LA Premiere

Alice Englert In Elie Saab Couture - ‘Beautiful Creatures’ LA Premiere

Alice Englert joined co-star Emmy Rossum on the red carpet on Wednesday evening at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, California for the ‘Beautiful Creatures’ premiere.

As much as I loved this Elie Saab Fall 2012 Couture pale-blue-and-gold brocade long-sleeved embellished fit-and-flare dress on the runway, I didn’t expect to see it on the red carpet.

Why? Because I thought it would be considered too costumey for a red carpet look, but Alice proves me wrong.

While the look does have a very theatrical feel to it, Alice carries the look very gracefully.

I find myself very disappointed with the shoe choice, however. They feel very muted considering the matching clutch and wild, wavy red tresses.

How do you feel about this look?

Too costumey or enough drama to keep you interested?

I like this from the ankles up. I think the dress is pretty and unique and the clutch works perfectly. I do wish she had kept the belt and I don’t think the shoes or stocking are working very well.

the shoes ruin the look for me. and “shoes maketh a man!” (well, in this case a woman) but the dress itself is beautiful. i wish she had chosen to wear the belt too…

I like this look from the ankles up. The shoes are just not right for this dress. I would have prefered a more delicate strappy sandal.

love it…she seems very cool for a young girl, really interesting choice and she carries it off beautifully

Waaaaaaaaay too much dress for her.

I love the theatrics and costume fantasy film première is a great to wear this dress on a young actress.

I love her dress, so beautiful. I’m not sure about the shoes either and I dont like the hair either.

I like the dress in general but it makes her look pale. Interesting but not great.

Theatrical but I love it! I like the loose and wavy hair. Put up, it would have looked too prim or too costumey, I think. The shoes are lack luster but they don’t ruin the look for me. As Anne said, she gives the dress a bohemian/artistic vibe.

Love the dress and the clutch, but I hate the shoes–they’re just ugly. I also wish she’d worn her hair up. Overall, I like it much better as presented on the runway.

I miss the belt, her hair should have been up pulled back and yes, she should have opted for better shoes.
    It’s a no for me 🙁

Dress is lovely but it makes her look big in mid-section and hips. Hair should have been up or off her shoulders.

    It’s interesting. I don’t hate it, but I don’t love it either.

She is not selling this look. What are those shoes?

    • Nat39 February 7, 2013 at 19:38 #

She is not selling it to me either, it all feels bland one-note and mumsy on her.

I LOVE the dress. The shoes are definitely not working for me, but I would love to wear that dress.

I loved the dress on the runway and am glad to see it worn. it might be a little much for her to handle but I really like it! Such a gorgeous dress. The shoes aren’t bothering me, I kind of like them. And I love the clutch. However, I would have worn an updo with the high neckline.

  17. CTgirl February 7, 2013 at 14:08 #

The dress works but the shoes are a disaster. Very mumsy.

The brocade, white stockings and satin shoes give me a very Regency, pre-Revolution feel. Which I would think I would like, but it seems out of place.

From the colse up photo I don’t think she is wearing white stockings, she is just really pale.
I’m not feeling the look either.

Do not like it. Not even Elie Saab could make me like this horrible dress. And the shoes are beyond awful.

  20. Rashmi February 7, 2013 at 13:40 #

I am really not able to decide on this. The dress looks apt for the Movie she is promoting, maybe more like ‘In Character’ look.
But I am sure that the shoe choice is real bad.

I feel the same about this look.

    NO, NO & NO

  22. mocha February 7, 2013 at 13:18 #

    love it!!

  23. AnderBoBo February 7, 2013 at 13:13 #

I actually love everything about this look! It fits perfectly with the fantasy nature of the film and she looks great. The shoes don’t bother me too much.

  24. Anne February 7, 2013 at 13:07 #

If described to me without seeing a picture, I think I would totally expect to hate this look. But, her bohemian and artistic spirit is showcased with this dress. I shockingly don’t even mind her hair because I think it adds to the Romeo&Juliet feel of this look.

Totally agree on the poor shoe choice, though. The one black mark on this look for me.
