Kate Mara joined her sister, Rooney Mara, for the New York premiere of ‘Side Effects’, held at the AMC Lincoln Square Theater on Thursday evening.
You’ll be delighted to see that Kate sported a new hairstyle, wearing her hair down for a refreshing change.
Her Givenchy black jersey drop-waist dress with a double-layered flounced skirt was styled with black Nicholas Kirkwood heels with a white swirl detail on the platform, and a gold Judith Leiber clutch.
Barely-there makeup, including a nude lip colour, provided the finishing touches.
Do you appreciate this small side-step out of her comfort zone, or is it more of the same for you?

Ok look. Like the shoes.
Looks like something her sister would wear.
I like the simplicity of this look, it suits her well. The shoes are great, I love love love them!
What Andrea said!
Snooze.
She has quickly turned into someone who can do almost no wrong for me. Not every look can be a bright, fashion-forward, trend-setting explosion. Sometimes we can appreciate “quieter” looks, which are nonetheless right on point. That is what this look represents to me. I love it from head to toe. The former is why I’m getting tired of Nieves Alvarez, as wonderful as she is. It’s like constantly hitting the same spot over someone’s head.
The shoes are awesome, the overall look is nice.
Boring but i like her style much more than her sister.
I actually really like the Mara sisters. Although, Rooney is personally my favorite in terms of her outfit choices, Kate is interesting in her own way. Her outfits tend to be careful, crisp, and subtley outside of the box. Both of them seem so unassuming and not in your face, that I could never really get sick of them.
I like this. Sure its a LBD, but it’s interesting. Love the natural makeup and loose glossy hair. She looks very comfortable and her natural beauty shines in this outfit. Cool shoes too.
Cute, a little short, love the hairstyle and shoes.
Rooney style strappy sandals may have give some interest to the look. I think her usual ponytail would have served better too giving a slicker attitude with the dress.
Great take on an LBD! And those shoes are amazing!
