There was more yet more bold colour statements to be had on the red carpet at The Shrine Auditorium in California on Friday evening for the 2013 NAACP Image Awards, this time courtesy of Garcelle Beauvais.
The ‘Flight’ actress brought her ‘A’ game to the red carpet wearing a stunning custom made bright-pink J. Mendel strapless gown inspired by a look from the Resort 2013 collection.
Her mermaid gown with tonal piping is heavenly, but I’m slightly baffled by the dark lip colour with such a brightly coloured gown.
I’m not suggesting she wear a colour to match her gown, but the lip colour feel a tad moody for the look and throws off the balance somewhat.
Lip colour aside she still took my breath-away.

Not feeling the makeup either. The dress is giving me an eyesore. Lovely but eyesore.
Agree on the makeup. As for the dress, the fit is smashing on her, but I can’t quite get behind the color. Too, too blindingly pink. It doesn’t help that I absolutely love the print of the dress pictured on the model here.
It’s funny how these designs make women hunch so badly to keep boobs from falling out. I also think that this pink is a bit too much.
wish she’d worn the floral print.
Ditto.
Had she worn the original dress (which I prefer), the lips wouldn’t have been so bad
I agree.
I actually like the makeup with this dress. It makes the look more sophisticated and not so Barbie doll.
That said, I still prefer the floral print version.
No.
I like the color but the tight, overly-revealing mermaid silhouette doesn’t work for me. Also her makeup is tres harsh.
I do wish she had worn the floral version, her lip colour would have worked better. She does look lovely though, the shape and colour is devine on her!
