Back in April last year, Alessandra Mastronardi attended the Rome premiere of ‘To Rome With Love’ with co-star Penelope Cruz.
She held her own against the red carpet A-lister, wearing a Valentino Spring 2012 powder-pink multi-layered tulle gown embroidered with neon-pink-and-black contrast lace.
A Bulgari clutch and a braided updo – inspired by the runway styling – completed her romantic look.
TV’s ‘IT’ girl, Allison Williams, wore the same gown in November to the 2012 Gotham Independent Film Awards.
While she kept the styling simple with black sandals, I wish she had worn her hair back in a neat bun.
Alessandra’s braided updo makes all the difference and is much preferred over Allison’s glossy tresses, so Alessandra wins for me even though I’m not crazy about her clutch with this look.

Yeah, Allison did it more ‘LA girl does couture’ no connections between hair and outfit!
erm. wish there was a “neither” option. that’s an unappealing dress.
agreed!
Alessandra Mastronardi.
Yes, definitely Alessandra. I much prefer her hair and the fact that she kept the belt.
Hmmm, I don’t know, it’s tough. I like that Alessandra has the belt but I want to point out that her makeup looks really bad here. Way too light, like a clown almost? Probably because of the camera flash, but still…
This is an ugly dress either way.
Exactly–why bother?
Alessandra.
It’s an odd dress. I think it works better with the belt and with the hair up. Also it helps to be taller so that there is more space between the black lace and the bottom of the hem.
Neither carried off this look perfectly. Alessandra’s presentation was way too “little house on the prarie”, didn’t like neither her braided ‘do, nor makeup or the clutch. Allison wins for me even though her glossy tresses may not have been the best choice.
Better on Alessandra, because the lining is more subtle. I don’t like the black lace touches on this. Her clutch was wrong, but overall her look was better.
