Michelle Dockery joined Nina Dobrev and Ashley Madekwe on the red carpet at the Chateau Marmont in California last night, for Entertainment Weekly’s Pre-SAG Awards party.
I was initially shocked to see her wearing such an edgy design from the Peter Pilotto’s Spring 2013 collection, but then I realised that I was associating her style too closely to her ‘Downton Abbey’ character.
Her halter dress was teamed with bright red pumps which complemented the vivid print, plus she added a mother of pearl clutch to her look.
I like how this statement piece showcases another side to her red carpet style, but the only thing letting this look down was the mumsy updo.
I think a slick back ponytail would’ve made this look feel more youthful.

Vibrant standout dress, loving the vivid print and interesting structure, but the dress does lose some of its playful youthful feel on Michelle – it´s not just her updo for me, there is some mumsiness in her presence, she isn´t working this dress imo.
