Sarah Jessica Parker was spotted leaving her home in New York City yesterday with her son and husband Matthew Broderick.
I’m not sure where she was going, but she looked sensational wearing two of my favourite designers: Mary Katrantzou and Giambattista Valli.
Her dress is from Mary Katrantzou’s Spring 2013 collection, featuring the signature currency print which made up half of this collection.
Most people would pair this colourful printed dress, with a fitted bodice and flared skirt, with a solid coloured coat; thankfully SJP isn’t most people.
She added an equally colourful Giambattista Valli Fall 2012 Couture coat to her look.
The woodland-inspired floral jacquard drop-waist coat is both elegant and refined, managing to stand out on its own and complement the Mary Katrantzou dress underneath.
A champagne-coloured chain-accented bag embellished with aqua stones, and yellow-and-green snake-print Jean-Michel Cazabat ‘Emma’ pumps completed her look.
I don’t know about you but I am drooling over this look. On paper it sounds too much, but this is a visual delight and worthy of a BDOTW nomination.
You can buy SJP’s Giambattista Valli Couture coat from Matches Fashion Global and Matches Fashion UK.
Do check out the other Giambattista Valli Couture pieces they have available online at Matches Fashion Global and Matches Fashion UK.

I love the prints, and many of the pieces individually (her dress is better than the runway’s shapless sack by far) but all together it is just too much. I feel overwhelmed…she looks like a high fashion bag lady.
+1
Id love to see that gorgeous coat buttoned up
Yep, I think the prints work overall. My only quibble is she lost the shape of the coat.
Agreed! Too much!
Just what I was thinking.
I agree FC…she looks sensational….i love love love this look!
+1 – not easy to pull off and right down to the shoes she nails it. BDOTW pleaeaeaease!!
I’m loving this mix of prints a lot. Definitely a BDOTW contender.
I totally agree.
She looks gorgeous here! I miss Carrie Bradshaw so much when I see her looking like this!
She looks like beautiful yummy cake
Love all the pieces and I started drooling seeing she didn’t pair it unexpectedly with a boring pump and chose the equally fun yellow-and-green snake-print pump.
Love!
Sometimes her looks are too much but this is all out fabulousness. I’d have every piece if I could.
love it to the core !
Amen
First thing I thought of when I looked at this was, “It’s [Valli], and I love it!” Oh Carrie Bradshaw, how I miss you. But when SJP brings this to the streets, it’s like tv-meets-real life!
I’m sorry but there’s a lot going on. The dress with the coat and the shoes plus the bag are too much for my tastes.
absolutely breathtaking, I´m in love with this and her shorter hair…
so this is what they call style. such confidence!
LOVE!
Only SJP can look radiant in this combination. Fabulous!
I like the dress and the coat separately, and they could have worked fine together, but those shoes and the bag are killing the overall look. Too much
+1
There is simply no elegance to this – she looks like she is trying too hard.
+1.
Sometimes more is more. I love it.
I hate this with a passion.
The only thing that comes into my mind looking at this is “Oh yes, let’s wear THREE different prints that are totally clashing with each other, just because I’m SJP and people will think that it’s fashion forward rather than illogical”.
Also, enough with the ombre hair.
This is splendid. So gorgeous and pretty. Print Heaven.
Lovely look, but FC I am very confused… Giambattista Vali Couture for sale for under £5000? It was always my belief that Parisian couture was completely hand-made, that only one was ever produced and that it was sold privately for many thousands… Please clear this up for me!
It’s only a few select pieces not the whole collection.
I was really surprised by these prices too because couture is hand made with many fittings. These prices are less than many designers ready wear. I can only think they are based on his couture but not actually
Wow, I am a little speechless. Not in a million years would I have thought these pieces would work together. Three different printed items in one looks just sounds ridiculous but if anyone in the entire world chould do it, it would certainly be, and is SJP!!
I love her and her choices, mostly, but here I wld change the shoes for solid vivid color like green, and def change the bag,not a fan.and she needs to color her hair asap.
Queen SJP looks amazing!
Omg, seems like a Sex And The City episode
Love
BDOTW for sure
I agree that somehow she makes this glorious jumble work. Love it.
Adore Adore Adore! It reminds me of one of my favorite SITC looks ever, Big is about to take off for CA and Miranda gave birth. She was in a magnificent evening coat over a fabulous dress, with blue feather sandals.
So perfectly Carrie and SJP…
It is just so Carrie-like. Love it. Great combination of prints.
There’s, surprisingly, a lot to love in this look, but I think the shoes take it one step to far for me. I don’t even find the colors complimentary. I also really like her hair.
she looks amazing! very Carrie-esque, as others said. Only SJP can pull this look off. BDOTW for sure.
this is definitely a carrie bradshaw style look here and it is PERFECT!
Hi
Do you know who designed the bag? If so, do you have a close-up picture of it?
The shoes complement the coat, the bag complements the dress, together none of the pieces are producing the right effect and working to their full potential, but instead they are competing and distracting from each other, not a good styling.
She can do everything… amazing
I kind of love it. I like the ballsiness of bringing print down to the shoes. It’s a chancy move that paid off. I would like it if the hem of the dress were a bit higher up, just under the knee, but otherwise, I like the whole thing a lot.
I love how the bag is so unexpected but it SO totally works with the look.
True, most would have stopped at one print. Some may have gone further with the printed coat. But very few would say, “You know, I’m putting in even more print in with my shoes”. That’s fashion confidence. I like it.
This looks amazing and she totally pulls it off, I only have issue with the bag-I don’t like it at all. But with ensemble so well-put together I can let it pass.
The shoes I ADORE and they just add extra whipped cream on top!
I LOVE this. But if I wore it, I would look like a crazy bag lady.
Allright, this has to be one of my BDOTY !!!
I can tolerate everything but the shoes should have been a solid color.
She was going to the opening night of Patricia Broderick’s new art exhibit in New York. The are a few pictures of Sarah with James and Matthew in InStyle.com
BDOTW list, please!!!
She looks outstanding. Makes all those looks that she’d been putting together in the past seem like trial runs. it’s genius styling and hope she keeps it up!
