Zooey Deschanel In Oscar de la Renta – 2013 Golden Globe Awards

Zooey Deschenal In Oscar de la Renta - 2013 Golden Globes

Zooey Deschanel took to the red carpet at the 2013 Golden Globe Awards, held in the Beverly Hilton Hotel in California this evening.

The nominated actress wore a glamorous red Oscar de la Renta Pre-Fall 2013 gown with a voluminous skirt.

While the dress is undeniably gorgeous, this is certainly not the first time we’ve seen this silhouette on Zooey.

A chunky pearl Kwiat necklace and matching bracelet, plus a bouffant ponytail, only add to the 1950’s costume party vibe.

Film-inspired nail art completes the look.

    Looks like a shower curtain.

The material is so cheesy. Not a fan.

This seems to be Zooey’s normal go-to, red-carpet look, nothing special here.

With no disrespect to the lovely Zooey… but her pose and posture are that of a five-year-old. This is not one of her ‘adorkable’ dresses, it’s an elegant gown and she’s ruining the look. Also I know this would make her head explode, but it wouldn’t kill her to change up the bangs every once in a while.

The tilted head posture had my eyes rolling. Complete snooze.

Is it just me, or do we ALWAYS see Zooey in that same ponytail? And as for dresses, it’s either short fit-and-flare dresses with opaque black tights and chunky black shoes, or it’s strapless prom-y gowns in girly colors. I wouldn’t have a problem with it if she consistently hit the mark on each look, like Taylor Swift or Anna Kendrick, but she doesn’t always and that’s where I have an issue. In this case she does, but I’m not being wowed like I was by Megan or Nicole.

Boring silhouette and it seems like all her strapless dresses sit too low in the bust area.

someone get this girl a new look stat

  8. Moxie January 14, 2013 at 00:38 #

Lovely but nothing new for her.

I agree with every word FC. I feel like i’ve seen this dress many times, the color, the shape, the fabric and not only on Zooey

  10. Jojo January 14, 2013 at 00:48 #

I’ve seen this kinda look before.

  11. Neli January 14, 2013 at 00:48 #

boring + the same = zooey

i dont think that you like your dress Jess…, sorry.. but does not fit in the red carpet…

I love the fifties silhouette, the expanisve skirt, the bright shade. The bodice is too low, though, and I wish it had a portrait neckline! All this strapless is annoying the heck out of me. Strapless flatters so few. Hair and makeup are pretty, and I like that she wore pearls (though that necklace looks a bit cheap).

    More the same

I’m sorry, but I think this gown looks very cheap. Maybe it’s because of the fit or her pose, but I don’t like it at all. And yes, we’ve seen the same silhouette a thousand times before.

it also didn’t help that she kept hiking up the dress around her top area- she needed a better fit/ support for the girls

I can live with the typical Zooey silhouette but that fabric is quite ugly. She might want to reconsider that pose too.

I do like her makeup here though. It’s softer than what she usually goes for and it compliments the colour of her dress very well.

I thought it was a Dior Gown

Whilst I’m not directly comparing the consistent brilliance of Dita von Teese with Zooey, I feel like you have to view their set ‘styles’ with a similar mindset. Both women have a specific ‘retro’ look, and whilst Dita’s is a more sophisticated approach, that doesn’t make Zooey’s younger style any less valid. You either love it or you don’t, but it’s difficult to compare them with other actresses or performers who have amazing chamelion-like abilities in their approach to red carpet dressing. I don’t think either approach is better than the other, just different, so it’s hard to compare.
Loving your coverage by the way FC!

The dress is ugly and aging her. The hair and makeup is lovely though.
