Rose Byrne barely cracked a smile as she posed on the red carpet for yesterday evening’s 2013 G’Day USA Los Angeles Black Tie Gala, hosted at the JW Marriott at L.A. Live in Los Angeles, California.
Perhaps the Australian actress was doubting her incredibly bold exit from Diane von Furstenberg’s Spring 2013 collection.
The navy blue sleeveless top with keyhole detail and narrow-cut trouser featured a confident, if not slightly eye-crossing, application of gemstone embellishment that was nearly as busy as the step-and-repeat behind her.
Rose matched the look with a blue satin Christian Louboutin clutch and Charlotte Olympia platform heels.
Thankfully, she pulled her hair into a simple low side bun so her strands didn’t interfere with the clutter of her look.
All in all, it was a cool twist on the printed pattern trend. But I wonder if it would have been less dizzying if Rose had just worn the pant paired with a different top to break the monotony.

Who Was Your Best Dressed At The amfAR Cinema Against AIDS Gala?

Exactly, she should have worn a different top. Both together aren’t really working. But I do like her hair.
LOOVe the look. Perfect mix!
Girl crush!!!!!
I really like this look. It was different, refreshing, feminine and somewhat subdued, just like Rose herself.
+1
me too! I looove it!
I love this! She looks great
Somehow it works.
Yup, fresh and lively and fun.
Somehow it works for her, agreed, I think it’s totally charming.
Me too. Love it.
Exactly. It shouldn’t but it does work.
Yeah, I agree with others. It totally works. Her hairstyle makes the look (that, and her stunning beauty).
Even though I myself would never wear that much print all at once, Rose pulls this look off with great aplomb. If she had worn the pants with a block-color top, I would’ve thought these are pajama pants for sure.
Oh, and I absolutely LOVE her hair and makeup here. Stunning.
Love everything about her look. In a dress, the embelishments would not be seen as something too busy. I’m glad she didn’t choose another top.
i like this
Love it! Love Rose!
I love this look. I’m so tired of all the pretty, yet uninspiring looks that win best dressed for the week. I love her. I love that she isn’t afraid to push the envelope!
Off the bat i wouldnt hv liked this but Rose does quirky surprisingly well. Her slight frame and fine pixie-like features add charm.
I like her hair but this is too quirky/pajama like. And the earrings are odd.
This is a pretty good look. Definitely bold and risky. I think her styling really helped this outfit work.
