Jennifer Lawrence has been walking a number of red carpets of late, including last night’s 38th annual Los Angeles Film Critics Association Awards, hosted at the InterContinental Hotel in Century City, California.
For the event, she once again found inspiration in Valentino’s Fall 2012 Couture collection. You may remember she also wore the designer at the 2013 People’s Choice Awards.
Her LAFCA look was marginally better, if only because it wasn’t black. But while the rich brocade was zinged with goldenrod yellow, the long-sleeve, high-neck cocktail dress still came off as somewhat heavy and decorative.
The asymmetrical hemline, artfully pinned up at the left, broke the monotony, as did the punch of a metallic Roger Vivier ‘Cecil’ sandal and the Roger Vivier ‘Pilgrim’ clutch.
Ironically, Jennifer’s hair was another moment of People’s Choice Awards deja vu, as she once again followed the braided updo trend with plaited locks wrapped around her head.

I like this look including the braid.
I love the look. Not as exciting as her Prabal Gurung’s look, but suited her well – body and spirit. She has shapely legs to show off. I like her braids. Made me think of Jean Simmons’s Ophelia in “Hamlet.”
The pinned up part looks silly on her. Other than that, this is a good look.
I like the dress and the hair, but not the shoes and clutch….
This dress looks like it was hemmed by accident, not design.
+1
The dress is ok, neither good or bad. Don’t like the braided updo though.
I agree. So so tired of the “Heidi” braid-looks silly!
The pinned up detail looks more like a wardrobe malfunction although does keep things a bit more interesting. Really dislike her braided ‘do on this occasion but somehow overall I think she pulls off this look.
ITA the pinned up side just looks awkward like no-one told her her dress had rode up
No, just no. Nothings works here, especially not that hair.
I’d have preferred the skirt not tucked up and the hair a little more polished, but it’s still in the right direction and not black!
Bravo she is back from the dead. This is a breath of fresh air compared to the crazy stuff she’s been rocking. Albeit that, her hair do is a total miss and those shoes do not go with this dress at all.
Sound of Music. Curtains.
And the hair is a mess. I do love the clutch and shoes though!
Love the dress and the braid…. But the clutch and the shoes are a big no for the look. Time to fire her stylist.
Her hair kills this look for me. The dress was better on the runway but it isn’t terrible on Jennifer. I like that she didn’t go matchy matchy with the shoes and clutch!
