Following her guest appearance on the Late Show with David Letterman, Jessica Chastain attended both the ‘Mama’ New York Screening, held at the Landmark Sunshine Cinema, and the 2012 New York Film Critics Circle Awards at the Crimson in New York City.
On this occasion she wore an Oscar de la Renta Pre-Fall 2013 look – our second look at this new season.
I’m not surprised that all eyes are on her, as Jessica looked divinely elegant in her black lace frock with cap-sleeves.
I think the look would’ve been fine without the diamond-encrusted collar necklace but, after looking at the close up, I’m guessing it was added to smooth out the illusion yoke.
Opting for sleek straight tresses for this event, Jessica completed her look with pink lips and Christian Louboutin peep-toes.
Which look do you prefer? The Berardi or this Oscar dress?

I like this one better! Her hair looks gorgeous here.
This dress sorta ages her. She looks vibrant in the Berardi dress.
I want to love this, but I think it is a tad matronly. Perhaps if it was a cap sleeve it would be a bit more youthful
+1. I am on the same page as you.
The way she wears this collar is so cute!
I prefer the Berardi, but she looks gorgeous in the Oscar de la Renta dress too.
Omg, the Berardi, hands down. Sleek and modern vs arsenic and old lace. She’s aged 15 years in the space of a few hours. Verges on frumpy.
I find this dress really aging.
I prefer this to the berardi because i don’t like the berardi’s halter neck or overall effect on her as it lacks definition in the waist!
I MUCH prefer the Antonio Berardi!
Despite looking a little granny I love this look. It seems very easy for her to look gorgeous.
I love both looks, although the first is more striking.I don’t think the black lace ages her. This cute collar gives a young vibe to this look.
Oohh i would have to go with the Berardi, she looks so sexy and classy in it, cobalt is her colour i think!!
I think this ODLR dress make her look elegant, but somehow a little bit bloated.
The Berardi, by a mile.
This dress is nice but doesn’t particularly flatter her. I love the necklace, but HATE it with this dress. If the illusion yoke needs to be smoothed out, that a design or fit problem.
This just doesn’t work for me.
I think if the necklace was onyx or jet, it would meld with the look better. This look isn’t completely right, but there is an almost Baroque air to it that I find appealing.
I prefer the Berardi dress because of the cobalt-blue color, it’s magic on her.
This Oscar de la Renga dress makes her older, and the necklace is not helping either. In the second photo I barely recognized her with the straight hair, or it’s the eye makeup.
Berardi by a very very long mile. This is just bad.
The necklace is unnecessary and the shoes do not go well with this dress at all. The Berardi look was MUCH better.
I like this dress a lot, though I’m hoping I’m not seeing white underwear under there. That diamond collar necklace is darling.
I like this one better! btw she’s attending the premiere of her new film, which is a horror,so I think it’s an appropriate look for the genre.
