Kerry Washington In Peter Pilotto – ‘Django Unchained’ Rome Photocall

Kerry Washington In Peter Pilotto - 'Django Unchained' Rome Photocall

Kerry Washington kicked off her 2013 ‘Django Unchained’ promo tour this afternoon by attending a photocall at the Hassler Hotel in Rome, Italy.

The actress leaves me breathless wearing a Peter Pilotto Spring 2013 dress.

Many of you have commented that you like Kerry’s style, but often you believe her style is too safe. Well that cannot be said on this occasion.

Her sleeveless, v-neck wrap dress featuring a cut-out detail, an exaggerated, asymmetrical, contrast front ruffle detail, front slit, and a ruffled hemline is one of her most daring looks to date.

You won’t be surprised to learn that I wish she opted for the runway heels; instead she selected a pair of navy printed Nicholas Kirkwood pumps.

Sleek straight locks and neutral makeup completed her stunning BDOTW worthy look.

          amen to that.

            too project runway for me

  2. justiner January 4, 2013 at 17:56 #

I think the runway heels wouldn’t work on the red carpet – it would be too much. Maybe the runway heels in navy?

    • Alina January 4, 2013 at 18:30 #

      I agree 100%.

  3. Liana January 4, 2013 at 17:56 #

I totally agree with you FC! The runway heels would have complete the look wonderfully.

Hair up wouldn’t have been too bad either.

I love the idea of this dress, but I just can’t get past the chartreuse peplum/flamenco ruffle. I don’t like the color or the material. I think Balenciaga excelled with this style this season, so this version pales & just doesn’t work for me. And, I usually love all things Pilotto. Do love her hair and makeup, however.

+1. And I also don’t like this green stripe, it seems that she’s carrying a bag.

    • dee January 4, 2013 at 19:08 #

I agree on the peplum, ruffle detail. That makes this dress look awful. It is too much going on for me. I think the dress takes away the focus from her.

      • Christine January 5, 2013 at 02:50 #

I agree. A bi too busy for me.

        • mia January 5, 2013 at 14:03 #

          need i say more?

  5. Ashley January 4, 2013 at 18:08 #

I love Kerry! This is stunning.

  6. Nat39 January 4, 2013 at 18:16 #

I don’t like it. The dress is a fussy messy craft project, esp. the ruffle (both the material and its placement) is quite an eyesore.

    • Nat39 January 4, 2013 at 18:21 #

…a designer a bit too desperately trying to come up with something original but ends up with the mess, this is not a tasteful design.

  7. robbie January 4, 2013 at 18:18 #

the dress is ugly as sin! kerry is gorgeous though but this whole look is a mess.

  8. Emmeline January 4, 2013 at 18:21 #

I never would have pegged this dress for a photocall look, but Kerry totally nailed it. If this had been a premiere I would have wanted her to wear the runway shoes, but for this venue I’m okay with the pumps.

  9. diana January 4, 2013 at 18:23 #

I hate this but Kerry is still a Goddess.

  10. justme January 4, 2013 at 18:32 #

Considering Kerry’s height, I am surprised that she manages to pull this dress off. Kudos :)
That being said, I’m not a fan of the mix of prints here and that includes the shoes.

I am excited for the rest of her promo tour though.

  11. Neli January 4, 2013 at 18:33 #

she’s stunning but not like this…

  12. Leeann January 4, 2013 at 18:40 #

coco Chanel once said elegance was refusal. A little more refusal in the design of this dress would have been welcomed? This is one of theugliestdresses thati have ever seen?

    • Leeann January 4, 2013 at 18:41 #

      Sorry ipad going batty

  13. lee January 4, 2013 at 18:57 #

celebs gotta realize that the pump color matching the dress doesn’t mean that the style that is the pump matches the feel of the dress.

I wanted to love this, but I really don’t like the ruffles. If the dress only had the front ruffle detail, it would have been OK, but the ruffled hemline is too much for my liking.

    • Mandy January 5, 2013 at 01:33 #

I want to love it as well. Peter Pilotto is becoming one of my favourite designers, however i’m not feeling this dress.

  15. rashmi January 4, 2013 at 19:18 #

Dont like the dress..it looks like a mess to me!

  16. Dhppy January 4, 2013 at 20:08 #

I am flummoxed by this dress.

  17. Alex January 5, 2013 at 04:37 #

    I love the dress, surprisingly.
    The shoes… No.

  18. Jess2 January 5, 2013 at 10:21 #

I love Kerry’s style, I don’t find her too safe. While I don’t think the dress is extremely attractive, she makes it work and wears it well. I also wish she wore the runway shoes though.

  19. EmmaWoodhouse January 5, 2013 at 16:59 #

This dress is frying my brain. It’s really, really terrible. Less is more, Kerry (and Peter Pilotto!). Less is more.

  20. Alice January 5, 2013 at 20:02 #

I Fell in love with this dress…it left me grasp when i saw it.

  21. Jones19 January 5, 2013 at 22:46 #

This dress is pretty ugly…too much going on.

  22. Amy January 5, 2013 at 23:00 #

safe is not a word I would associate with Kerry’s style.
About this look , the dress had the potential of being great, I get the vibe but something got lost in the translation. There’s just too much going on for me. I still love Pilotto though, he’s amazing.
