This is so exciting for you FC, what an honour! I’ve loved watching this site grow over the years, and you must feel like this is truly the culmination of all your hard work
I have a request- I’ve been searching for your past posts featuring photos of you (during fashion week) to be reminded of your body shape/usual style in my deliberation about the dress- are you able to link to them (or suggest a search term to find them?)- we have to get this right for you!
Thanks for your research. You are so cute.
Pictures can be found here http://www.redcarpet-fashionawards.com/?s=NYFW&post_type=post&submit=Submit+Query
Thanks for that! Your pic reminders have confirmed it for me- though all dresses are gorgeous, I definitely think the asymmetrical style would look so striking on your statuesque bod (I’m thinking canary yellow with a burgundy sash maybe, hair tightly back…?) But the ruffle dress could look great in a romantic way too, in contrasting red with a fushia ruffle or even an all over soft pinky beige, with your hair down and loosely curled…hmmmm…decisions…nope I’m sticking to dress 1!
Asymmetrical canary yellow with a burgundy sash? I think you mean Cate Blanchett’s Oscar dress from a few years ago
Ha- I realised just after I posted where the idea came from! (And that’s why I’m an armchair stylist and not in the big leagues…!)
The “problem” (LOL) is that FC can wear any of those styles with ease. Like you I’m torn between the romantic and the geometric but, also like you, I have finally decided on the more geometric.
Lol FC have a body of a model. I think she can pull off almost any dress WHICH makes me kinda disappointed looking at this sketches. Ruffles? Mermaid dress? I was actually expecting something edgier and different especially from RM. I really love dresses with sleeves but Imma go with the first one. But in my head I kinda imagine it will look a little stiff in real life. Anyway, congrats FC. Can’t wait to see you on the RC! Lol
I have to agree with you… I’m a bit disapointed with the sketches, they are so bland and nothing new…
The Cap Sleeve sketch it’s the same dress Naomi wore here: http://www.redcarpet-fashionawards.com/2012/12/10/best-dressed-of-the-week-eddie-redmayne-in-burberry-prorsum-naomi-watts-in-roland-mouret-john-krasinski-in-calvin-klein/
My vote goes to Look 1, the “Asymmetrical.” I’m drawn to the sleek classicism of its lines and think it would work amazingly with your body Fashion Critic. Look 2 strikes me as potentially fussy and Look 3 errs on the casual side for an event as grand and epic as the Academy Awards in my opinion. Look 1 for the win!
+1
I am a look 1 enthusiast as well! In all fairness though, FC will rock whichever of these she wears
Agree, I think the simple lines of the asymmetrical dress will do the most justice to FC’s body. Agree that the ruffles are potentially fussy. The third one is a lot of dress and has the potential to overshadow the wearer. Can’t wait to see FC in the finished product.
I’m definitely keen on ‘asymmetrical’ too. With FC’s statuesque physique I think that would look amazing!!
Happy new year FC, hope you had a great one, and look forward to heaps more fashion this year xx
All three look good, but I think the 3rd one is the best
Same here !
+ I remember how much FC loooove mermaid dress…
Eeeeeeeeeeeeeee! So exciting FC!
This is so cool! Congrats!
I would love to see you wearing Look 1. Happy New Year, Catherine!
Happy New Year xxx
Definitely not look 3. My vote would go for Look 1. Look 2 reminds me of the red dress Michelle Obama wore to the BET awards where maya angelou was honored.
I can’t decide between the 1 & 2, but in the end I will vote for number 1, but all of them would look amazing with a killer body like yours FC
You are really generous by putting this decision on your blog´s community hands! I love this and I will follow it closely but I cant vote, I´m not worthy! The third one looks really like a rouland mouret whit the cap sleeve and the folder on the front but I dont know if it is oscar material… I love this!!!!
lol…of course you are worthy x
I love all three and bc mr mouret amazing taloiring im sure they all will look stuning on you. however my fav is choice number 2 bc it seems like departure from something you might normally wear. Plus you can give us some fierce jewels hunty!!!!
Look 2 does look great, but it’s possible that there’ll be too much ruffles for my liking. Look 3 is a design which we’ve already seen on the RC several times IMO. Therefore I picked Look 1. It’s different and looks ‘new’ to me. And it would look amazing on you, FC.
look 1 all the way.
hope you had a great new year fc.
Happy new year Robbie x
3
Hello back and happy new year ! I voted for the asymetrical gown because the 2 others seemed familiar (as if they have been worn already) and I wanted you to look unique.
I can picture you already on the poll of the Best Dressed at the Oscars
My favourite is look number 2,keeping my fingers crossed.so excited!
Fcccccc does anyone has a slit to show your sexy legs??????
It’s either 1 or 2… Aaaaaah but I am so confused
I am repeatedly checking your what I wore posts…
Please is their any slits?????
Taking your body type into consideration, I think you’ll look striking in Look 1.
I vote for look 1.
Number 1 by far. It will look great with your body shape.
Happy New Year Catherine !!!
And its gonna start so glamourously (is that even good english?)
Love
Yes, I understood you perfectly x
Happy New Year x
This wasnt easy for me, you have the beauty and body to pull off all three.
I think we have only seen seen you in a long sleeve gown by Roland.
I had to check out his bridal collection to see what the gown might look like.
#3 The short sleeve gown is regal and ladylike but doesnt have enough fire/sexy on it’s own for the oscars.
#2 i am just worried about not liking the ruffles
#1- the winner especially if it has some structure and drama like the Breton Matelasse Gown or looks like the a longer version of the one shouldered gown.
I already know you are going to be on everyone’s best dressed list
thanks for the compliment x
I vote for No 2 because it isn’t obvious Mouret so it looks a bit fresher. But 1 is nice too.
Gosh! I am SO excited for you!! Happy New Year BTW! I really don’t know which one to pick. I’m just talking it out here–For me, the 3rd has a shape most like a Roland Mouret, but I’m not sure it is my favorite. I think it is the most “different” with the mermaid hemline, but I’m not sure if the sleeves and the classic Roland Mouret shape is right for the Oscars. I think dress 1 will look amazing on you, but it seems maybe too easy of a choice. The dress 2 is really beautiful with the ruffles. I like that it is feminine and soft. It is probably my favorite if I were picking off the rack. However, we are not. They are all so different, Yikes!
If it were me, I think I would want to wear the dress 3 because it is more of a trademark look and what an honor to not only wear a Roland Mouret dress, but to wear one famously styled. Unfortunately for me, I don’t have your height so it would not look nearly as great on me as it will look on you.
I love them all but voted for number 1. I think it’s the most “you”. SOOOOOO excited to see you on the red carpet!
I’ve voted n. 3, as I think those more structured dresses are what Roland Mouret does best and you would look great in it! Plus, it would be’ different from the other gowns we’ll see that night. I’m sure there will be dozens of strapless gowns, so that’s one of the reasons why I haven’t voted number 2 (I’m also not too keen of ruffles). Number 1 looks great too!
In any case, I’m sure it will be a beautiful look!
P.s. Welcome back FC, happy new year!
thank u Nat.. Happy New Year x
I went for Look 1, it´s the one I think will work best on FC´s body type. And it better have a train!!!!!
Look 1!!! Love you and your wonderful job!
Happy New Year, Catherine!
Happy New Year, FC.
I voted Look 3
YOU would look tremendous is all. I am going with #1 because 2 reminds me of someone else and 3 too many celebs have worn that construction….
congrats! Happy New Year!!!
thanks Sasha. Happy New Year….x
It was hard to pick between number 1 and 3.
Happy New Year Catherine! I hope you had a marvellous holiday period
Yay the moment is here
I am super excited for you and very honoured to be involved in the process! As many have already said you would look amazing in all three.
I have gone with number one, you would pull of this structure and slight edginess like no one else. I don’t think the ruffles meet this ability, you can certainly pull off something more fashion forward. I love the classic RM design of number three but we see many lovely women in this, Naomi Watts being the most recent. Number one would work perfectly on you
No matter the final design, I have no doubt that you will be making best dressed list all over the world!!
happy new year…thank you for your kind words
omg. i am so excited for you FC! i love all three looks but i will have to go with look 1. it’s sleek and minimal and will look amazing on your statuesque body shape. you can also play up the accessories with look 1, but regardless of what you wear, you are so going to rock the red carpet at the oscars!
My vote goes to Look 1. I think one shoulder would look great on you. And I just cannot wait to see you at the Oscars. So happy for you.
Makes me wanna hold on to my dreams even more tight. Cos dreams do come true. X
Happy New Year FC, i have gone for Look 1 I think it will look fab on your amazing figure i think down the line colour will suit you also, oooohh you are going to look amazing, im so jealous!!!!!
I waffled between 1 and 2. You are so divinely statuesque FC. Ultimately 2 for me. I like the mix of structure and softness. No matter which, you will shine
. So fun!!!
Now that I think about it, FC. You are putting a lot of trust and confidence in our hands. This is kinda nerve racking. LOL. You must have faith in us
I like both 1 and 3 but voted for 3. I can see you wearing 1 most definitely because of the shape! Whichever you will rock it.
I have a lot of faith in you guys
OMG I can’t pick just one, I voted for all the three cause I would love to see all of them on FC on Oscar night. Each one has something I love and they’re very different in style I love them all I can’t wait to see it.
Dear Catherine:
I am torn. I know how you love a mermaid dress so I am tempted by No. 3, but agree with many of the others that the most striking design is No. 1. So that will be my vote. As others have said–any of these designs would look spectacular on you and your lovely tall figure.
Hope you had a wonderful week off and a happy new year. I missed you a lot and am glad you are back!
Thanks Rebecca xx
I can hardly contain my excitement
So we’ll have to vote on color and fabric without knowing which dress style won? That will be interesting.
1 & 2 are my faves. I think FC will rock #1 the best, so that was my vote.
#3 looks like the Roland Mouret dress that Zoe Saldana wore to the Avatar premiere in London.
Vote for Look 2.
I went for look 1. We have already seen look 3 on Naomi Watts, look 2 would be my second choice even though I am not a big fan of ruffles.
Happy new you to all.
*Happy new year to all.
Thanks, SilentVisitor. Happy new year to you too.
N. 2, honestly it’s not easy to understand how the other two are, the sketches are… sketches. I go for the ruffles!
I went with Look 1
I’m not here for cascading ruffles at the front so Look 2 was the first one to be dismissed.
As for Look 3, I was torn. Because, on the one hand, cap sleeves are Roland Mouret’s signature and they always look exquisite. On the other hand, I’m not convinced they will work well with a floor length gown.
Happy New Year, FC! I feel so blessed to be able to join you on this journey and I am just SO excited for you!
Thrilled about these looks…Look 1 was the one that didn’t do it for me so much, just because I felt it didn’t stand out as much as the others. I adore the cascading ruffles on Look 2 and think that it’s a bit different than RM’s usual designs, though still with his genius touch. Look 3 was awesome to me because of the sleeves (an unusual and stand-out touch on a red carpet gown) and so I gave it my vote. Excited to see what happens next!!!!
Happy New Year to All!
xxx
P.S. SOOOOO glad to have you back from vacay, FC (even though I’m being selfish) I missed the blog very much!
Look 1. It should suit you the most.
overall was hoping for something a bit more special.
I went with Look 3. I feel it has the most potential and would deliver just the right amount of drama. Look 1 has a rather bland silhouette, Look 2 runs the risk of looking like a tacky prom dress.
I’m excited to pick the color and fabric next! This is such an exciting process, and I know the gown will turn out to look absolutely splendid.
First off, we’ve missed you around here….although you definitely deserve a vacation as well
So I was torn between looks 1 and 3. 3 reminded me of Naomi Watt’s look she recently wore….and I knew you loved that one. But number 1, in my opinion, would look phenomenal on you. You have the amazing body to pull it off, if I may say so =) So that’s the one I went with.
We cannot wait to see what the final product is. Much love X
I haven’t had so much fun since choosing outfits for my dolls.
I’ve chosen no.3. I think asymetric is slightly informal for the Oscars, and strapless ruffles perhaps not quite right for someone who will be working. No.3 is glamourous, will suit FC’s body shape and will be beautifully appropriate in the context.
With your amazing shoulders and super lean figure I’d say you’d be drop dead gorgeous in look 1! good luck!
Such a tough choice between look #1 and look #3. However I have to go with look #1. I just have a feeling that it is going to look amazing on your tall, lean, and, beautiful figure FC!
Congrats! xo
Happy NEW YEAR FC . I’m seriously so excited for you i choose look 1 i can’t wait to see u bring the dress to life and i wanna see jewelry and shoes because I know ur going to bring it I can’t wait to see you on the red carpet.
What a great way to start the New Year!!
No 1 for sure.
Then you need to choose hair, accessories, make up…
I’m excited for you
Happy New Year!
Happy new year FC and what a way to start the new year wow you must be so excited to wearing Roland Mouret to the Oscars. I love 1 and 3 I think ruffles can be fussy so I’m going to stay clear of number 2. I think number 3 is very Roland you would definitely know who you are wearing when you see that dress saying that I remember you having a great body so I think number 1 will look beautiful on you and show off your beautiful shape. At the end of the day we know you are going to wear the dress it’s not going to wear you I’m looking forward to seeing the final design.
Happy new Year Dan x
This was impossible for me because FC is the definition of fabulousity and everything she wears is instantly chic but I say the third one would be FABULOUS
you are all too kind. I love you all
x
I hope you choose either: Look 1 or Look 3.
Look 1: has a good mix of elements which you will definitely be able to pull off and look amazing. It’s feminine, but modern and with the right colour palette and accessories – will look AHHHHHmazing
Look 3: i feel is the “safe” option. but could look a little boring. though it seems as though it will look fairly sophisticated… which is not a bad look if that’s what you want. This option just seems a little safe for an occasion like this.
Look 2: i think it could be a little bit of a disaster only because it is ruffled and strapless – which is a bad combination. It has the opportunity to make a feminine figure look frumpy and unflattering. Plus the material of this dress will also add to an unfortunate look.
wow!! so amazing … i think the first gown would look beautiful on you ,congratulations from a fan From Mexico ..
Look 1: Asymmetrical is definitely my pick
I went for Number 1. Sleek and sexy.
Number 2 looks like any other dress, and Number 3 is too typically RM.
So excited, FC!
Finally went with 1. You will look Ahmm-aa-zingg in that.
Hey FC, which one is your fav?
Happy new year FC!
All three dresses looks great, but I can totally picture you in the first dress, sexy yet elegant, definitely the first one.
Look 1 wins for me!
You’re going to the Oscars? That is so awesome. Are you going in a professional capacity or personal capacity? Good luck with the dress choosing and can’t wait to see the final result!!
Yes I am….it will be a bit of both
I vote for number 3! Its the best choice for the Oscars and FC will look stunning wearing it.
Gee, this is so exciting!! Even I’m a little nervous now it’s all started, I can’t imagine how you can keep holding on!!
Hoped you charged batteries on the break for the always packed-up awards season! Happy new year! x
ps- voted for 1, hope it wins
#1!! xx
Thanks Matt x
Eeeeeek! This is so exciting!!
First, with your body type (tall, lean, modelesque) I think these 3 options are perfect and you are going to completely rock whichever sketch is chosen. I have a feeling option 1 is going to win, but I voted for option 3. I disagree with some commenters above, as I feel like that is the least safe option. I love the dress another poster linked that Naomi wore, but I had pictured yours to be more structured, which I think would make it more “Oscar.” Maybe in a deep burgundy/oxblood??
Anyway I can’t wait to chose the rest! Happy New Year FC!! Welcome back!!
thank you… happy new year….I’m trying to contain my excitement, but it’s not working
Happy new year to everyone!!
so nice to come back and catch up
I was SO looking forwards to this post, im very intrigued!
I can picture #3 as its a Mouret classical shape which works well
I can image #2 and im wondering what #2 would look like as ive never seen ruffles in a Mouret dress
#1 and #3 would definetly look great on you FC and #2 is a bit of wild card as ruffles are always tricky
Im leaning towards #1 as assymetrical is classic elegance and sexy
look 3 is roughly this one I think:
http://www.redcarpet-fashionawards.com/2012/12/10/best-dressed-of-the-week-eddie-redmayne-in-burberry-prorsum-naomi-watts-in-roland-mouret-john-krasinski-in-calvin-klein/
LOOK 3!!! Either way, you will be fab xxxx
This makes me so sad to say! I must say any one of these gowns will look gorgeous on you FC but lets be honest these dresses dont stand a chance on the best dressed list and RM is so much better than these 3 looks! The mermaid look is a Sofia Vergara kinda gown and the ruffles i simply have no comment on that one! Although all the looks are great it is just not good enough for the Oscars which is one of the most exciting events of the year! But the first look is without a doubt the best of the 3 looks. And i am sure FC you will look great regardless with the complete look!
