Elle Fanning In Chanel – The Tonight Show with Jay Leno

Elle Fanning, your Best Dressed Teen for 2012, made a guest appearance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno last Friday.

The young actress told the TV host that she’s taking Biology, French and Geometry classes, plus she was on the show to promote her latest flick, ‘Ginger and Rosa’, sharing that she had her first on-screen kiss shooting this movie – at which point she burst into fits of uncontrollable laughter.

Opting for an angelic look, she wore a Chanel Resort 2013 dress with puffy sleeves which she accessorized with lavender Chanel sandals and a pear-accented choker.

A half-up, half-down hairstyle completed her look.

Love, or does the civil-war-era vibe of this look put you off?

Finally, the Chanel Resort 2013 Collection looks as odd on a celebrity as it did on the runway. The Nellie Oleson (Little House on the Prairie) look isn’t something a modern day 10 year old can sell anymore.

Don’t like the dress and it looks too big for Elle!

  3. Christina January 3, 2013 at 21:21 #

It would have looked great without the sleeves. My eyes keep on being drawn to the two-toned legs though.

Actually, I love this AND the Civil War vibe it gives off 🙂 It’s adorable!

  5. Mia January 3, 2013 at 13:58 #

    She looks lovely!
Don’t forget that’s just a little girl who still experimenting with her style. And majority of her looks are excellent!

  6. Alina January 3, 2013 at 11:12 #

    Not liking this.

she totally sells it to me! love the innocence and youthful, playful vibe she puts on such a staid dress!

This isn’t a great look. I think she needed to have her hair in a pony and get rid of the choker. The dress needed to be better fitted (especially at the shoulders) and I think she should have kept the sheer panels at the mid section as well as the belt to keep the look from being too costumey. I do love her lavender heels though.

Fail. She looked like a dumpling princess. This dress looked awful on the model, to begin with. It looked like a piece of garment that a gay man put on his decoy girlfriend; like something Claude Montana would’ve designed for his poor wife Wallis Franken.

The sleeves on this put me in mind of Lady Di’s wedding dress – please say we are not going back to that style. Can’t quite believe this is Chanel.

  11. mia January 3, 2013 at 02:52 #

is she trying to play dress up? because this look is just feral and sad.

  12. Pedro January 3, 2013 at 01:32 #

    She looks flawless!

    • Christina January 3, 2013 at 21:19 #

Not really, have you had a look at her legs? A tanning faux-pas. Apart from that, lovely indeed.

this is a classic example of believing your own hype. Whether her or her stylist(s), someone “heard” she’s a fashionista and now every outfit is an event. If it all could be dialed back just a few notches the world’d be the better for it.

I just do not care for this at all. If the fit were better it might help but I don’t think it would save it.

I hate the whole Chanel Resort 2013 collection, and this look is no exception. Combining demure Chanel and frilly Versailles just don’t work for me. At all.
Though if I look past the dress, Elle’s look is really good. Young and fun maybe.

She looks lovely ! Maybe a little bit costumey, but in a good way.

  17. robbie January 2, 2013 at 19:39 #

terrible on the model and even worse on elle. looks like she belongs on little house on the prairie.

  18. Neli January 2, 2013 at 19:35 #

    not like it

Elle always seems to wear things that she doesn’t havbe the persona to pull off. If this were worn by Diane Kruger, or Olivia Wilde, or maybe Emma Stone, this would be a lot better. They would sell it, whereas Elle doesn’t. There’s no reason I can quite put my finger on, other than the fact that she’s very young. But that’s also fortunate because she has lots of room for improvement.

  20. Ali January 2, 2013 at 17:53 #

No I’m afraid there’s nothing to save this look.

  21. Yeliz January 2, 2013 at 17:33 #

Not bad, but I don’t like the choker and the dress could have been better fitted.

  22. Alex Z January 2, 2013 at 17:26 #

    I love it!
it’s beautiful, charming and most importantly- fun!

    I don’t like this.

  24. Moxie January 2, 2013 at 17:11 #

    Aww, I like it.

  25. Freeda January 2, 2013 at 17:07 #

Haha so true, she looks like an extra out of Lincoln!

    • Rashmi January 2, 2013 at 17:43 #

      Costumey but kinda very cute!!

  26. Beth Rodrigues January 2, 2013 at 16:47 #

well, costumes are her life..she actually looks too old to be wearing both the dress and the Alice in Wonderland or the other, perhaps!

  27. justme January 2, 2013 at 16:40 #

She is adorable and she obviously has fun with fashion. That being said, there’s always at least one thing I don’t like in her outfits.

Imo, you can’t wear a choker with your hair down.

  28. Marybeth January 2, 2013 at 16:36 #

My goodness! The girl is moving forward!
Last we knew she was a 17th-century pilgrim and now she’s a 19th-century plantation belle! Where’s her parasol?!?

Ah, well. She’s having fun experimenting with clothes and at her age, why not? I actually think she’s one of the WORST dressed teens — but I still appreciate the fact that she really does her own thing. And she’s never trashy, vulgar, or gratuitously attention-seeking.
Anyway, that smile covers a multitude of fashion sins!

    • justme January 2, 2013 at 17:25 #

      LOL @ Where’s her parasol?

Your comment is so true though.

    • manja January 4, 2013 at 13:06 #

you read my minde 100% agree with you on everything

  29. Carolina January 2, 2013 at 16:29 #

The dress is ill-fitted, and the collar is far too costumey. Pass.

    • Christine January 2, 2013 at 19:28 #

I agree. Too medieval for me!

      • Mandy January 5, 2013 at 01:22 #

  30. Chloe January 2, 2013 at 16:15 #

Can’t take this seriously. Too costumy for my liking
