Great list, FC! Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas to you :)

Can’t wait to see the sketches!

  2. noo December 24, 2012 at 17:41 #

FC thank you so much for a wonderful year :D You have made red carpet fashion much more exciting by adding your precise commentary and giving us a place where we can swoon over amazing dresses and choke over horrifying looks. Merry Christmas and enjoy your holidays XD

PS: I am very thankful that you have verified my love for Tilda’s best look ever!!!

    • Fashion Critic December 24, 2012 at 18:00 #

She was always the the to beat. Many came close ;)

  3. Alina December 24, 2012 at 17:41 #

    WOW! Didn’t see it coming!

Sonam Kapoor in Salvatore Ferragamo, Karolina Kurkova in Rachel Zoe, Diane Kruger in Vivienne Westwood, Elizabeth Banks in Bill Blass, Kate Hudson in Atelier Versace were on my list also.

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!
Can’t wait for Awards Season! <3

  4. Wizzer December 24, 2012 at 17:48 #

    Very interesting. Approve

I LOVE the fact that your choices emphasise the truth on subjective taste.

Rather than following the crowd/bloggers favourites(awaits angry Emma Stone fans)!

    Merry Xmas

  5. Rafael December 24, 2012 at 17:53 #

    Not on #2 & #3

  6. David Joe December 24, 2012 at 17:54 #

now THIS is a list. thank you for putting my list up FC

    • Fashion Critic December 24, 2012 at 17:59 #

Lol..it’s rare that two lists are the same

  7. Anne gaelle or Anne G December 24, 2012 at 17:56 #

    Queen FC,

I was 18 best dressed in my personal list but 10 bestdressed ruled the lot. I’m glad to see that 6 of my 10 favorites are on your list especially delighted with the presence of Emmy rossum and Elizabeth banks.

I like very much your tastes.

Thank you for the best of even if I don’t agree with the choice of readers on several categories.

I wish you a merry christmas to you and your family and a very Happy New Year with health, happiness and full of Fashion moments.

    See you next year.

    • Fashion Critic December 24, 2012 at 18:01 #

      Thank you. Merry Christmas x

      • Lu January 1, 2013 at 19:58 #

FC will you also be attending the BAFTAs this year?

        • Fashion Critic January 1, 2013 at 22:42 #

          I wont be

  8. Kona December 24, 2012 at 18:03 #

What a perfect list! Much better than the reader’s list. Tilda Swinton, and Elizabeth Banks deserved to be on the best dressed list of 2012. This is why you are the number one fashion website.

    • Fashion Critic December 24, 2012 at 18:27 #

Thank you. I think it’s interesting to see how people tastes differ

  9. Ela December 24, 2012 at 18:04 #

Didn’t vote but choices 1,8 and 10 are indisputable.

Thank you FC for the incredible work you do in providing a fun but still civilized (with the teeniest bit of snark, which I love) website.

    Happy holidays to everyone!

  10. Yeliz December 24, 2012 at 18:09 #

Have to admit that I thought Karolina Kurkova in Rachel Zoe would be your choice, FC. We only have 2 looks in common, but that doesn’t matter, I still think that your list is great.

Thank you for another stunning year (and my second year, the first year I didn’t comment) of fashion, FC. My love for this site is growing every day. I’m so happy that I discovered it. I really feel like something is missing, when I don’t visit your site on a daily basis. I hope 2013 will be even more full with beautiful dresses and breathtaking gowns. And the biggest thing I’m looking forward to is YOUR look at the Oscars! Can’t wait to begin this survey with you and all the readers. I already know, that you’ll look flawless in your Roland Mouret gown.

Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year, FC. Lots of love from Germany xxxx

    • Fashion Critic December 24, 2012 at 18:26 #

Thank you. I glad you do comment. It help build the community of fashion lovers we have here ;£

      Happy holidays

  11. Fashionmint December 24, 2012 at 18:12 #

wonderful list FC…. Merry Christmas & a happy new year !

  12. Victor December 24, 2012 at 18:15 #

Couldn’t agree more with the number one Tilda Swinton! LOVE HER in this dress!
Happy Holidays FC! xoxo from Brazil

  13. Dhppy December 24, 2012 at 18:19 #

This is quite a lovely list. I seem to have done better with you, than the reader’s poll.

Thank you, FC, for all your effort this year. You work hard, and it shows. The results are fantastic. This is my favorite fashion blog. I look at it daily. And, I look forward to sizing up all the fashion next year.

  14. Ramsay December 24, 2012 at 18:23 #

It’s an interesting and somehow unexpected list – quite surprising to see Emmy Rossum on this – and I expected to see Cheryl Cole’s Stephane Rolland Cannes look and one of Cate Blanchett’s looks from a couple of weeks ago on this list
I guess you can never fully know people’s taste
Thanks for your coverage this year
    Enjoy your time off
    And Happy holidays

  15. justme December 24, 2012 at 18:32 #

Yaaaayyyy! We have ONE in common lol.
Sonam looked regal in that Ferragamo suit. I am pleased that you included two “casual” outfits (Sonam and Emmy) in your list. Being well dressed doesn’t have to mean wearing a floor length gown.

And thank you for Elizabeth Banks. I prefered the Elie Saab number she had at the Berlin premiere but at this point, I am just happy she got any recognition.

I have had a very fun year on this site, thanks to you. So merry Christmas, happy new year and see you in 2013 for some more.

    <3

  16. Rashmi December 24, 2012 at 18:34 #

Wow !! This was a delightful unexpected list. Something which isn’t based on favoritism :)
Am so happy to see Tilda, Emmy, Sonam and Elizabeth Banks in the list. They deserve it!

Happy Holidays FC! And cant wait to see the sketches on Jan 2nd.

Thanks for a wonderful fashion year! C ya!!

    • Rashmi December 24, 2012 at 18:37 #

      Andd Merry Christmas!!! :D

  17. Hannah December 24, 2012 at 18:39 #

Thank God! I was slighty disapointed by the readers’ picks, but your list is incredible! Tilda was the one to beat this year, and if we’re honest, it was never gonna happen!
Its disappointing not to have Cate on eiher list (this hasn’t happened since 2009) but I’m hoping this means she’ll raise her game next year.
I’ve loved reading the blog, and somehow it gets better every year and I’m already excited for the Roland Mouret at the Oscars!
I cannot say enough how much I appreciate the hard work you put in, it really comes through in the blog. I hope that you have a wonderful Christmas and a fabulour New Year!

  18. Christine December 24, 2012 at 18:44 #

Also FC, I can imagine the state of excitement you’re in about Roland Mouret designing your dress!

I, TOO, will try to keep my cool :D I can’t wait and I wish you well x.

  19. Kyriaki - Cyprus December 24, 2012 at 18:50 #

    That’s a great list, FC!

    Happy Holidays!

  20. Amy December 24, 2012 at 18:52 #

Since Eliz Banks, Diane and KK made that list, I’m happy because I was truly blown away by those women this year. Special mention to Sonam the suit is blowing my mind

  21. SilentVisitor December 24, 2012 at 18:53 #

I just love the diversity of your choices. I was really surprised not to see Tilda on the Readers’ choice. Anyway, Happy Holidays FC

  22. Marko_M December 24, 2012 at 19:06 #

The bottom half of your list is the upper half of mine. Emmy Rossum is, in my opinion, extremely undeserving of the top 10.
Have a great time during the holidays! xx

    • Nat39 December 24, 2012 at 23:53 #

Re: Emmy Rossum. Emmy did look really pretty, and I knew how much FC loved this look, so I expected her to be on FC’s list but placed more somewhere at around #8. But placed this high, at #2, I must admit it comes as a bit of a shock to me.

On the other hand, Tilda is where I expected her to be. I had no doubt she would be in FC’s top 3. She wasn’t in mine but it was a fantastic look for Tilda at Golden Globes.

  23. Nat39 December 24, 2012 at 19:08 #

Nice list. The only 2 looks that I still do not consider worthy are Blake (her so called ode to Veronica Lake was more of a desperate try-hard and very unpolished attempt, just a no from me) and Gwyneth whose look was only best (arguably) by default at the poorly dressed Oscars this year.

Love your site (!) Happy Holidays.

Just noticed, not a single Elie Saab gown.

  24. mm December 24, 2012 at 19:10 #

Tilda and Gywneth were on my list. I am very happy to see Tilda at #1, just watched her movie “I am love” and her character was so impeccable dressed much like Tilda in real life.

Happy Holidays and Thank you for all you do!

  25. Fran December 24, 2012 at 19:10 #

Tilda Swinton in Haider Ackermann is also my no.1
    PERFECTION!

  26. milex December 24, 2012 at 19:39 #

    Yes!
Tunred out I do agree more with the critics than public :)
Marry Christimas to you, I hope you found many great designer pieces under the tree :)

  27. Prudence December 24, 2012 at 20:18 #

INTERESTING! I deffs love this one better, seems like FC and I have similar tastes. I AM SO HAPPY TILDA MADE IT ON HERE AND AS NUMBER ON! I DIED WHEN I SAW HER THAT NIGHT!!! AND THANK YOU FOR PUTTING E BANKS ON HERE SHE IS DEFFS DESERVING!
MERRY CHRISTMAS, CANT WAIT FOR NXT YEAR!

  28. CreoleLady December 24, 2012 at 20:44 #

A fun year. Although my preferences differed radically from both Reader and Critic lists (except for Emmy Rossum and Zhang Ziyi), that’s what makes fashion fun. Many thanks to FC and warm regards to everyone while we rest up for the Oscar preparations next year *happy dance*.

  29. noo December 24, 2012 at 22:19 #

It’s very intriguing that the red carpet designer & couturier of the year didn’t design any of the top choices for the readers or FC!!!

    • Fashion Critic December 25, 2012 at 08:49 #

Yes I noticed that too. I think that even though his dresses are gorgeous they have become somewhat predictable that they don’t stand out against the other designers listed in the top 10

  30. asherlev1 December 25, 2012 at 00:26 #

Agree with 1,5 and 10. Looks like we’ll agree to disagree! Happy Holidays :D

  31. Bec December 25, 2012 at 00:45 #

Yes!! After being very disappointed with the readers choice list, this is more like it!! Great list FC, and what a great year! :)

I’ve been reading this site for years now and it’s great to see how it has grown and how influential you have become in the blogger/fashion world.

    Can’t wait for 2013! :)

    • Fashion Critic December 25, 2012 at 08:46 #

I can’t wait for 2013 too…, thanks for your support

      Happy holidays x

  32. McKenzie December 25, 2012 at 02:08 #

Yes, yes, yes! I agree more with your list than with the readers’ choice list.

Merry Christmas, FC! Thanks for all your hard work. I would very fashion lonely without this site.

    • Fashion Critic December 25, 2012 at 08:45 #

Fashion lonely…that is a cute phrase.

      Thank you

      Appy holidays

  33. Jess2 December 25, 2012 at 02:42 #

Outstanding list! I am so glad to see Elizabeth Banks, she was a knockout this year and was my pick form best promo star and made The Hunger Games my best cast. This was my first time voting for best of the year and I had a lot of fun. I only had two or three in common with the best dressed ladies but it is great sharing our loves with one another :)

Merry Christmas Everyone! Wishing you all a safe and happy holiday season. Looking forward to 2013 :D much love from Australia xo

  34. Ayesha December 25, 2012 at 04:50 #

omg….tilda’s was easily my favourite look….this is great!!!

  35. kiwi December 25, 2012 at 04:54 #

Great list.. love the diversity of the looks, is far more balanced than the Reader’s choice list. Echo all the comments about how great your blog is.. how my day is incomplete without coming to your website.. Merry Xmas and a fab New Year FC! :)

  36. Pat December 25, 2012 at 05:58 #

OMG! My favorite Haider Ackermann on Tilda Swinton won!!! Would you believe the first time I saw this here in RCFA, I swore this will be my wedding gown but in white??? Thanks FC for proving I have such good taste and that my style is not boring.

Merry Christmas and much love to you FC and to all!

I follow you on Twitter, hope you follow me too @thepatmendoza. Much thanks!!!

    • Fashion Critic December 25, 2012 at 08:43 #

:D you are so cute. Thank you

  37. Ella December 25, 2012 at 06:08 #

Yes!!! Emmy Rossum and Elizabeth Banks are on your list!!! I loved these two dresses so very much…..Emmy’s in particular

Yet another fantastic year FC……much love

  38. ash December 25, 2012 at 07:14 #

Oh wow, I really thought Jada Pinkett-Smith in Atelier Versace would definitely be in your list!!

  39. callmesimon December 25, 2012 at 10:49 #

    YES YES YES. Tilda!!
    Regal and magnificent.
Thankyou for selecting what may seem a non-traditional choice. She is ethereal and feminine in this outfit whilst still being true to her own distinctive style. The Best.
And to echo others…thank you so much for your efforts and your site. I genuinely look forward to visiting everyday on my way home in Sydney which seems to be when you’re getting down to work. You make my day, regularly.

  40. laura December 25, 2012 at 11:00 #

Oh My God ! FC you are a fashion goddess ! I couldn’t agree more with your choices… Merry Christmas !

    • Fashion Critic December 25, 2012 at 13:40 #

      Thank you ;) Merry Christmas

  41. EmmaWoodhouse December 25, 2012 at 15:09 #

First of all, I am SO glad that you picked Tilda because her fearless look at the Globes needed to be recognized and you were the one to do it! I was glad to see Emmy, Keira, and Elizabeth get a mention here too.
    Great list :)
I just wanted to thank you again for another wonderful year of your amazing site, FC. I feel like I’ve been welcomed into a great, diverse family of fashion-lovers. I find myself moved when I think of all the wonderful looks (and some crazy moments too!) that we have enjoyed over the year. Your site really means a lot to me and I can’t wait for next year to continue journeying through the exciting word of fashion!
Love always xxx have a lovely Christmas and holiday break!
I’ll be looking over the archives until the second and counting down the days to vote for your Oscar dress!
    :)
    Emma

    • Fashion Critic December 25, 2012 at 17:15 #

Thank you . Your comments always brighten up your day x

      Happy holidays

  42. Carrie Doe December 25, 2012 at 16:09 #

    No. 8 is gorgeous!

  43. J December 26, 2012 at 05:21 #

    Fabulous choices, FC!

  44. Rahul December 26, 2012 at 06:27 #

Hello FC! If I’m not wrong, you’d earlier committed to putting Jada Pinkett-Smith in a tangerine Atelier Versace number, she wore during Cannes, in your BDOTY list. Sadly, despite looking sensational she hasn’t made it to any slot on the list.

Very happy for our Indian fashionista, Sonam Kapoor! And no one is even near to challenging the statuesque Tilda Swinton in her epic Golden Globes gown!

Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays! :-)

    • Fashion Critic December 26, 2012 at 10:53 #

That was back in May. Since then there have been several other looks and my opinion has changed. I think that is only natural. I can’t be held to what I said 7 months ago surely.

  45. sebastian December 26, 2012 at 14:51 #

Agreed! one miss tho, Florence in Gucci @ LACMA!!!
and Lana del Rey in Alberta Ferreti @ CANNES
apart from those two… I think overall it was great I don’t have a but in every look you chose

  46. sebastian December 26, 2012 at 14:54 #

Besides Tilda…. WOOOW!!! She’s the best!… Imagine if Raf (as her friend I suppose) choose her to wear Dior and Raf’s collections all the time…. LOVE THE IDEA!!

  47. irina December 26, 2012 at 19:18 #

Wow! that’s a list! this was a great fashion year but the thing I most enjoyed was reading you blog almost every day! Thanks FC! Wish you great holidays and look forward to another fashion year with RCFA!

  48. DivaDebbi (Beauty and Fashion Blog) December 26, 2012 at 19:24 #

Amazing end of the year round ups FC!!!
So many of these were my personal faves too. Enjoy you much needed time off. We are all looking forward to “dressing you” for the Oscars in Roland Mouret. Happy Healthy New Year!

  50. Cara December 26, 2012 at 21:33 #

Thanks for another great year of fashion!

In 2013, could you include red carpet predictions for the major award shows? I love that.

    Peace and Love,
    Cara

  51. Lee December 27, 2012 at 04:50 #

    Happy Holidays FC!

  52. Ann December 27, 2012 at 09:16 #

Happy New Year and thanks for your great website. I like Emmy Rossum in Monique Lhuillier – ‘Project Runway’ Taping.

  53. Christine December 27, 2012 at 15:12 #

Wondering why you are saying Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to a certain few. Guess I am not one of your favorites here. LOL

    I can’t wait for the 2nd.

  54. Moxie December 27, 2012 at 15:31 #

You listed 11-20 for the Reader’s Choice BDOTY… what would your 11-20 be?

Glad to see Keira’s Erdem gown made your list. I voted for it in the Reader’s Choice, but it couldn’t crack the Top 10.

    • Fashion Critic December 27, 2012 at 16:17 #

that would take me a long while.

      • Moxie December 27, 2012 at 17:55 #

How about listing a few in no particular order that you were thinking of including?

  55. Jessica Morris December 27, 2012 at 18:40 #

I love number 4. Karolina Kurkova in Rachel Zoe at the 2012 Met Gala!

Happy holidays and thankyou for a great year on your website!

  56. Kate December 28, 2012 at 01:18 #

Emmy Rossum higher on the list than Karolina and Kate?! That’s the only quibble on my part. Great list overall; love the Tilda pick.

Thanks for all you do, FC. Your blog is a great source of stress relief and eye candy for me every day :)

  57. marie December 31, 2012 at 19:00 #

6 out of 10! not bad for me :D Elie Saab really needs to step up his game for 2013. i find his recent outings too boring, taking to example the royal wedding gown, which was quite the same as most of the Saab gowns worn during the previous night’s dinner, with the exception of the long train! thank you for including Elizabeth Banks on your list FC, i was quite disappointed to not see her name on the readers’ list!and Tilda, my god, she is really such a goddess. I love it that of the three fashion sites i follow (you, TLo and the Fug Girls), you all share a love of all things Swinton!
