Last week, Stella McCartney brought some festive cheer to London’s Mayfair by holding her annual switching on of the Christmas lights at her Mayfair store, sharing the duties with comedians Paul Whitehouse and Vic Reeves.
The designer, who wore a lot of her Resort 2013 collection during Miami Art Basel, selected a weather-appropriate look from her Fall 2012 collection on this occasion.
Dressed in a chic tweed suit with an exaggerated hourglass shape, she styled her look with black tights and those mock-croc ankle boots from her Fall 2012 collection with the white platform, which have been surprisingly popular with celebs.
A gold chainmail clutch completed her look.

Who Was Your Best Dressed At The amfAR Cinema Against AIDS Gala?

The suit is nice (Stella should really stick with making blazers and everything would be’ fine), but those boots are beyond hideous and are really doing her legs no favours.
I’ve always hated those shoes. I can’t understand why they are so popular with stars, especially the young ones
I agree. fug shoes.
YES, those white platform shoes are HIDEOUS, they need to go away asap!!
As a designer I would’ve expected her to understand her body and her propurtions.
Those boots cut her legs short and the runway heels would have looked better…
The suit itself is gourges!!!
HATE IT.
She looks matronly and dated. Those tight-at the ankles booties are killing it, and not in the good sense.
She should’ve gone for some feminine stilettos and bare legs, and some color on the face… please!
black tights with brown boots?!
under a brown suit…
oh stella!
she is certanly not my fav pers or designer, but I do like her look here, and understand why celebs like the booties as I like them as well, and the shoeses version too.they are diff in a good way.
Hate the boots but like everything else.
ew! this look is dated in every way
those boots are ugly, the rest is pretty nice though.
The suit is OK, but it looks like office wear and isn’t particularly fashion forward.
The ankle booties are one of the THE ugliest shoes I have seen–right up there on the list with Elle Fanning’s BD Part 2 Premiere clunkers.
There are many deficits in this look, but she makes it work for me because it is strong and she is so fierce.
This is sort of a Raf Simons moment, with the exaggerated hip. Others do this too: Pilotto, McQueen. However, what McQueen would do to sell it, is to exaggerate the shoulders in a similar way; sort of the “go big or go home” mentality. In this shot, we can see the curve of McCartney’s shoulder peeking out from under the pads – making the triceps look like they are too big to be contained by the sleeve. Basically, this dress doesn’t look architectural, so much as unflattering.
