Rooney Mara was another celebrity who attended the Dubai Cares and Oxfam ‘One Night Lives’ Charity Gala at the Armani Hotel in Dubai on Friday.
The ‘Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’ actress often experiments on the red carpet, and this occasion was no different.
She wore a custom-made black sleeveless Calvin Klein sheer dress with a lacquered silk skirt, sculptural detail on the bust and a thick waistband.
While the look is definitely risky, Rooney pulled it off by keeping her hair tightly pulled back and pairing the dress with simple, strappy Givenchy heels.
The finished look was part dominatrix, part runway model — and full on fabulous.

Who Was Your Best Dressed At The amfAR Cinema Against AIDS Gala?

I really like the makeup here, she looks different, great actually
For some reason, I like this look, even though the skirt being so shiny and the creases on it are a bit distracting.
Me too. She pulls off this look nicely.
I have the feeling that her face is a bit darker than her body and neck. It distracts me a little.
+1
I prefer this severe center part to the Lisbeth Salander bangs, but the dress is NOT good. So revealing, and also weird…I don’t like it at all.
Way too revealing for a charity gala in a Muslim country.
Don’t like it. Looks like the skirt from another dress was tacked onto this top, which has it’s own issues. The shoes don’t work with either top or bottom for me.
I don’t like the design – it starts as modern and sexy and then ends up with the mumsy skirt. I imagine how much sleeker and sexier and more structured this would’ve been with a sleek just above the knee skirt and a sexier sandal.
What was that about boring simple Calvin Klein designs???
amazingly stunning woman, i love her look but her eyebrows don’t really work for me
So glad to see her back on the red carpet!
Haha, I agree that this may not have been the most sensible choice for a charity event (quite likely a setting where you want to keep your audience happy so they are encouraged to donate) in a nation where so many people practice Islam.
That being said, I think Rooney looks incredible. I know looks like these don’t always win BDOTW even though many of them get nominated, but I am really hoping this takes the crown come Sunday. Bring on the rest of the week.
while i don’t like the dress, i do like how adventurous Rooney is on the red carpet, she’s never afraid of taking risks and this is so refreshing…
but i can’t help wonder “is this dress too revealing for a place like Dubai?”
