Katy Perry In YSL – A Celebration Of Carole King And Her Music

It’s been a while since we saw quirky Katy Perry on the red carpet; lately it has been glamour all the way.

She attended a celebration of Carole King and her music to benefit Paul Newman’s The Painted Turtle Camp at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, California yesterday evening.

The singer wore a very familiar YSL Edition Soir gown.

Familiar not so much in colour, but in style. Just this year alone, both Kylie Minogue and Emmy Rossum have worn this gown.

The main difference between them and Katy is that Katy’s gown has embellished details on the bodice which she has offset with a decorative Amrapali necklace, which probably wasn’t needed but does enhance the overall look.

Wavy raven tresses and gold ankle-strap Giuseppe Zanotti pumps completed her look.

Do you love the new Katy Perry, or are you longing for the quirky Katy to return?

I love the new Katy Perry. This look is flawless IMO. Even BDOTW worthy. I just love everything about it.

the dress looks even cheaper with the embellishments, the colour is absolutely gorgeous though!

It screams cheap for me as well, but I disagree about the colour. Somehow it makes it look cheapestest

I LOVE everything about this look!
she is elegant classy, and look even better than Kylie and Emmy !

I so much prefer classy Katy no comparison to quirky Katy

I love this refined Katy, shows she has versatility. I do wish we saw more of this from her and other starlets, this is what celebrity looks like in my opinion.

I MUCH prefer classy Katy to quirky Katy. She’s been much improved lately, with only a few missteps. I had issues with this gown the last times it was worn, because it looks so heavy and cheap. I don’t like the slit AT ALL but Katy’s green embellished version is better than the others. I also like the color. It’s not my favorite look lately but I do really like hair, makeup, and necklace.

She wore it best! Love this color and I do miss Quirky Fun Katy.

mmm I prefer the blue version sans embellishments and sans necklace as worn by Kylie
I enjoy both ladylike Katie and quirky Katie 🙂

Stunning! The colour, the shape and the styling, all stunning! The shoe colour beautifully compliments the colour of the necklace. I am also really loving Katy’s classy and glamorous looks.

I think she go a bit lighter hair wise and try a brunette shade.

I LOVE it head-to-toe. She looks incredibly gorgeous and surely BDOTW material. However I have to admit I’m starting to get tired of her makeup. Always the same.
As for the quirkiness, I agree with dee, she should leave it for the stage.

I like this. She can leave the quirkiness for the stage.

Love the hair, makeup & necklace. Not feeling the gown, but I didn’t like it on Emmy or Kylie either. How can YSL looks so cheap? It screams prom dress replica of a high-end gown for me

This dress is so much more flattering than the clingy Marchesa. I do like her quirkiness, but can appreciate she’s evolving at the moment.

I LOVE Klassy Katyliciousness, like this.

Her quirky side can easily slip into Taky Katy, so no, I don’t want her to resort to her old gimmicks.

I love this look on katy! I also love the embellishment on the dress and how it doesn’t clash with her statement necklace!
