My heart sank when I saw Anne Hathaway on the red carpet this evening for the world premiere of ‘Les Miserables’ in London’s Leicester Square.
After being slightly disappointed by Amanda Seyfried’s look I was expecting to be blown away by Anne, but sadly it never happened.
The actress wore a white satin Givenchy Spring 2012 Couture beaded cold-shoulder halter gown with an open back.
From all angles this unflattering look sends shivers down my spine; not in a good way.
I hate to say it, but this is my least favourite look from Anne ever. I’m crying inside.

The pixie cut looks cute…. but call me crazy I think this look would’ve worked better had she worn the hoochie earrings that model has on….

This is wonderful- I’m in love with this look- I think her body looks beautiful in it- it gives her such an hour-glass figure. It screams old hollywood glamour, boudoir sex appeal, and angel, to me.

This dress is C’EST MAGNIFIQUE!!! The front, the back, the details, the draping, the embroidery, all of it represents the best of haute couture. Anne wears it very well, and I’m glad that there are actresses who can carry off couture looks with aplomb.

I wouldn’t cut the sleeves. The sleeves are what make this dress interesting. Lose the sleeves and you’d just get a boring (though exquisitely made) halter neck white evening gown.

I actually adore this look! I despised it as presented, but she brought a sexy shape to it. I think the neckline is divine and her shoulders and back are perfect for the gown. My only squabble is that it is a tad too long.

I remember being so turned off by the styling of the models that I couldn’t focus on this collection. That unnecessary trail of buttons down the front bugs me to no end, but otherwise, I’m okay with the gown. Not in love, but okay with it. I prefer it from the back, though (minus the fishtail).

Loved it, she looks fantastic, I like the whole look and on the live feed it looked fantastic. The Burberry cape she had on over the top was gorgeous too.
I’m sorry to disagree, but I am very much in love with this look. Anne looks drop dead gorgeous! The gown is exquisite and Anne herself looks radiant – you can tell that she’s in a very happy place and wants the whole world to know it.
There’s nothing to fault here – except, perhaps, an omission from the BDOTW list come Friday.

I am honestly so happy right now, this is the dress that I’ve been waiting to see on the red carpet ever since I first saw it. I can see why some wouldn’t think the dress is that great, but I find the dress really cool and different. It’s not your typical pretty dress.. I’m so glad she laid off of Valentino, it’s nice to see her in something different. The fits looks pretty good too, a little long, but fits her better than the model..

I’m completely blown away. I actually LOVE this dress! It takes a very sophisticated person to pull off the daring “cold shoulders” and not look ridiculous, but Anne makes it look amazing. With her hair and makeup,(this is coming from someone who usually hate pixie cuts) the dress looks regal but age-appropriate. Best look I’ve seen all month.

I actually very much like the look. Yes, the sleeves are a bit weird, but the neckline looks amazing and Anne wears it with such confidence that I can’t but love it. Deep red nails would make it just perfect.
I love it. Anne is very simple and basic when it comes to fashion. 80% of the time, she wears LBDs. She took a risk and she looks stunning! Plus, she could really wear whatever she pleases!
I have to disagree with FC. I think anne looks amazing its something different from her i find it very fresh. Its givenchy it’s all about been fashion forward and off center. Anne doesnt try to hard to pull the look off ethier which i think makes me like it more. Loving the relaxed vibe anne is giving after she got her head shaved…

Anne took a risk and, for me, it works. FC, I was certainly surprised to see how strongly you disliked it, but I guess this is just one of those dresses. I will note that white is not my favorite color (non-color?) on her, but I’m not sure I could picture this dress any other way, and the same goes for the sleeves.

This is probably the most hideous dress that I have ever seen. There is nothing fashion forward about this at all . It makes her hips look huge, the front buttons look stupid. This is just ugly on every level

I don’t like Givenchy and Balenciaga. They are brother brands. And I say ‘brother’ because with the exception of some pieces and Couture, their pieces aren’t feminine, beautiful and don’t work well on the red carpet and are UGLY.

I love it. Not sure how this is viewed as unflattering, she looks slim and shapely to me. The make-up is a bit off though and the hair a bit cutesy.
I don’t love it like some and hate like the others. I’m not a crazy about the sleeves especially from from behind but the I like the bodice and skirt looks nice and Anne herself gives the look charm.

I detest this dress but I like it on Anne. Did not know she had such transformative capabilities. Hair, makeup, height, and smile make up the deficiencies. She pulls it off. Now, if she would only start wearing color again; can’t wait until this Les Miz phase (black, black, white, more black) is over.

I’m honestly bored of looks like this. For starters I amnot a fan of white on her at all, which is a shame since every other gown she wears is white. Secondly, I don’t love free flowing column gowns on her, or high necklines (ike the recent Gucci. She cna be amazing, but IMO she was at her peak during her AWards season run and hasn’t ever matched it.
She’s been making some terribly odd fashion choices lately, which is surprising since she’s clearly in the midst of a major Oscar campaign. Is she still working with Rachel Zoe?

Really? I think the dress is exquisite – absolutely breath taking. She look gorgeous. And i’m so glad she stepped out of the box. The neckline is oh so divine. The more i see it the more i love it. And i’m glad the pixie is slightly longer. I never loved Anne during fresh-pixie.
I’m on the YES side here. The only things I dislike here are the too-low back and the fishtail ruffle at the back. I love the cape/cold-shoulder sleeve effect (thank goodness she showed it off as she did!) and the svelte, flattering silhouette. Plus, the fabric looks so EXPENSIVE and luscious, which is nice to see. Her hair is starting to look better though I still prefer it long. Overall she pulled off this look stunningly and deserves a BDOTW nom.

For me, this is a very rare occasion in which I disagree with you FC!
I think this is a great look for a number of reasons. Firstly, I actually think this is flattering on Anne, it shows her great figure but her natural beauty is also able to shine through. Her face just lights up when she smiles and her hair and makeup is beautiful! Secondly this is something very different for Anne. She doesn’t really do fashion forward and edgy looks but I think this look is both. Finally, I wasn’t blown away by this Couture collection and I knew it was going to be extremely hard to pull off. Anne certainly delivers in that regard! All in all, I think she looks fantastic!

I don’t think it’s unflattering. I see a gown that fits like a glove where it’s intended to fit like a glove, and drapes where it’s intended to drape. Her body looks amazing in it, and that to me is flattering.

I’m trying to see what you hate so much about it. Anne has not been my favorite since her haircut, however I think she looks divine. The white is absolutely beautiful on her and the detailing of the dress is AMAZING! I notice her makeup, which is never a good thing but besides that I think this is wonderful.

The dress looks way nicer on the model. I think it’s the combination of the hair, the make-up and the sleeves that makes me queezy.
Here’s what I’ll say about the look.
First of all — I actually love it. I think it’s a gorgeous, different, unique gown and I think that Anne really pulls it off.
The issue comes down to her posing with her hands on her hips. THAT is what is making the look unflattering and wide and weird. If she had’ve kept her arms straight by her sides like the model, it would have drawn the eye up to her shoulders and face and the gorgeous detailing on the neck piece.
