Keira Knightley In Duro Olowu – Late Night With Jimmy Fallon

Keira Knightley made a guest appearance on the ‘Late Night with Jimmy Fallon’ show, taped at the Rockefeller Center in New York City yesterday evening.

The British actress was not only there to promote her new movie ‘Anna Karenina’, but she also squared off with Jimmy in a guessing game that tested their musical prowess, as they played songs on random instruments.

Opting not to wear one of her favoured brands (Valentino or Chanel); she wore a Duro Olowu Spring 2013 dress.

The Nigerian-born, London-based designer is known for his powerful patchwork, and his disciplined eye for splicing bold prints together.

This was put on full display with this beautiful dress which Keira styled with Bottega Veneta platform shoes.

As a lover of bold prints I’m salivating over this look, but I have a feeling this will not be favoured by everyone one. The only thing I don’t like are those heavy platforms.

Do you like this change of pace from Keira? Or is there too much print going on for your liking?

I can’t get past the shoes!

    I love this!

BEAUTIFUL DRESS!!!! though she could have put a bit more thoughts into the shoes….nonetheless, she looked sensational (especially with that smile, bye bye pout!)

  5. Ayesha December 5, 2012 at 09:16 #

the print is gorgeous,i don’t like those shoes though.

I agree that the shoes are not right here, a less clunky heel in a complimentary colour would have been good. I’m finding the dress to be a little too long. I also think she needed the belt seen on the model to give a more defined separation of the top and bottom and to tie in with the white button strip.

Platforms aside, I love this look, but, yes, I wish she’d worn the tie in the lookbook

I love the dress, and I love prints!

I agree with FC, that the chunky platforms aren’t quite right, and I also agree with some earlier posts, that the dress needs the sash.

Still, the dress is breathtaking and I COVET!

Not a big fan of chunky shoes but the little butterflies on them makes it so adorable and appropriate for the floral dress.

  11. Ladies Clothing Catalog December 5, 2012 at 03:22 #

    love the dress

  12. Christine December 5, 2012 at 03:09 #

Something new which is great to see. Fun print!

  13. Valeria December 5, 2012 at 02:34 #

Love the dress and she wears it well! Somehow I think bright yellow or pink heels would be amazing with this dress, her shoes are too clunky. But it’s a good start!

Wonderful (except for the heavy shoes, which do nothing so much as remind me of ‘concrete shoes’ reportedly favored by Mafiosi) – this colorful, lively look is a perfect look for her. I’m a big fan of the cheerful mixup of prints and think it’s masterfully handled. She so often wears delicate looks, which are lovely on her, but this is like sunshine!

She looks so fun and youthful here and the dress is gorgeous. BDOTW. One of her best outings IMO.

You make like the dress but I think WRONG season for it. And the shoes definitely didn’t help. I’d have gone more fall colored and rock some boots.

Love on the model. Getting a bit of a house-dress vibe on Kiera. Maybe it’s the hair, looks a little “Sarah, Plain and Tall”. Both are in motion so that can’t be it. Nice to see Kiera branching out. Know of this designer through the FLOTUS, who has worn several pieces over the years.

Ankles up this is a wonderful look, though I do like the vivid blue and the belt and the lighter shoes paired with it in lookbook version.

The dress is beautiful and it makes me want to check out more Duro Olowu’s designs.
    Keira’s style/figure doesn’t suit it though.

A belt is really missing, the dress needs someone with longer legs and the platforms weigh down the whole thing even more.

  20. Emmeline December 4, 2012 at 22:39 #

I think she looks fantastic. It’s so nice to see her step outside the box a little and go for something so bold.

  21. sanya December 4, 2012 at 22:13 #

She looks amazing. The dress is beautiful, and it goes with Keira’s style. The only thing I would like to change is her makeup. I think that this dress deserves more powerful makeup (although for this occasion, Keira;s stylist was right)…

  22. Yeliz December 4, 2012 at 21:57 #

I love prints but here it’s too much print going on for my liking.

  23. kathryn December 4, 2012 at 21:23 #

I love the dress! I do think she could have used the colorful belt in the lookbook and a colorful strappy sandal.

  24. TeuntjeVDW December 4, 2012 at 21:22 #

    Beautiful dress!

  25. Moxie December 4, 2012 at 21:14 #

There are only two things I don’t like about this look — the shoes (naturally) and that yoke down the front of the blouse that kinda looks like a sheet of button candy. It is too random. I love the bold prints and the style.

  26. robbie December 4, 2012 at 20:55 #

from the ankles up this is perfect, but the heavy shoes are a big downfall though.

Love love love the print!!! She looks great.

  28. nicola December 4, 2012 at 20:39 #

Adore but I wish she’d worn the tie around the waist – makes it look really pretty.

    • Dhppy December 4, 2012 at 20:55 #

Yes, I think that would have helped.

  29. oluchi December 4, 2012 at 20:38 #

    Long time FC!!
    She looks FAB!!
Love the shoes, loving the print even more!!
    Plus I’m Nigerian, so #yaay!!

I have known about Duro Orolu for three years so I am annoyed that he is finally getting the attention he deserves NOW but grateful he is getting the attention at all.

His pieces in general are fantastic for Fall and his skirts and flowy dresses are very Florence Welchy.

Keira needed shoes that complemented a color in her dress- blue would’ve been a great choice.

Hey FC, Mr. Orolu makes colorful, printed jumpsuits…

    • Divya December 5, 2012 at 03:17 #

I may not know the guy but I completely agree with you, the man has been deserving of praise for a while. Hopefully Keira has started a trend!

  31. Serena December 4, 2012 at 20:27 #

Not my favorite dress, but she pulls it off nicely.

    • Mrs. A December 4, 2012 at 23:34 #

+1 For the belt. She should have stuck with it.

  32. tiffany December 4, 2012 at 20:25 #

Sensational. And Keira has the moxy to more than pull it off. This is a special look. Would love to see BDOTW contention.

I love Duro Olowu’s print mixing and love this dress with the shoes, but I do prefer it with the belt on the model.

        • EmmaWoodhouse December 5, 2012 at 02:34 #

+3 This is beautiful. I do miss the belt though but it’s a minor detail and she looks so amazing that this is definitely BDOTW worthy!

+1. Its lovely , very very adorable.
