Carrie Underwood joined Hayden Panettiere on the red carpet yesterday evening for the 2012 CMT Artists Of The Year at The Factory in Franklin, Tennessee.
The country singer took a night off from wearing her favourite sparkling gowns to don a Katharine Kidd Fall 2012 jumpsuit.
Featuring a sheer yoke, draped panels and a crystal beaded trim around the waistline, this is a more modern look than we are used to seeing from Carrie.
I love the simple styling, which included red Giuseppe Zanotti pumps with a black patent toe-cap, a Jill Milan ‘Holland Park’ clutch and a selection of Vahan bracelets.
Even with a modern look, the singer still sports pageant hair. Just imagine how major this look would have been with a simple ponytail or slicked back do.

cool! she looks beautiful here. I like her hair and her outfit is awesome
Exactly, FC
Why, why oh why this hair?? always….
From the neck down this is an awesome look and I am excited to see Carrie trying something new. Now to work on he hair and makeup because I agree that is too pageant like.
Not a fan of jumpsuits or minimalism, so I prefer her princess gowns 🙂
See, I like the hair….I like it being more “big” while her accessories and her outfit is more on the modern side. So it all works for me =)
cool! she looks young and modern here. About the hair, she gets a pass, baby steps!
I agree. 🙂
Pageant hair and pageant makeup which I hate in every look she donates so I like this only from the neck down. Her barbie doll makeup gives me nausea.
I always roll my eyes when I see this girl. I love your comment about the hair! I have the same thought every time when I see her and Kate.
this is my favourite all time Carrie Underwood look. Id love different hairstyle (and a darker shade of blond) and a more natural makeup, but still its a HUGE improvement on past looks!
One of the best looks she’s had ever.
First thing I noticed too, unfortunately. I love that she’s branching out, but the hair is the first thing you see and I have to mentally block it out to really see the clothes.

This would’ve been BDOTW worthy if her hair was slicked back.
Yes, such a shame. I totally love the jumpsuit.
I like that she is trying new things. One of her best looks in a long time.
