James Van Der Beek attended the DETAILS Hollywood Mavericks Party, held at the Soho House in LA yesterday evening.
The ‘Don’t Trust the B—- in Apartment 23’ actor wore a Calvin Klein suit on this occasion.
His nutmeg suit with a white pocket square was styled with an open-neck dress shirt and brown lace-up shoes.
Should James have completed his look with a tie? Or do you think this look works perfectly without it?

Hmmm…I don’t have a problem with a no-tie look, but the white shirt with the more earthy colored suit doesn’t work. Also, in comparison to the other great menswear I’ve seen this week it’s just OK.
Sometimes the no tie look is a little sexier/more rugged and a little less stiff – he pulls it off
He looks sexy and the no tie adds a casual touch to this nice suit.
wow. I got a little unexpectedly warm looking at this picture. Every girl’s (and many boys) crazy ’bout a sharp-dressed man!
The tie is needed here imo, the look feels incomplete without it.
I think I tie would have been nice. Swiftly followed by a trip to the nearest tailor to remove the two inches of trouser material causing said article to bunch up around his ankles!
Looks perfect without the tie… love it!
Wowza.
I think he looks great. I like the look without the tie.
Suave in an American way.
+1
I think this look works perfectly without a tie. I don’t think that men always have to wear a tie when they wear a suit.
Btw, I started watching his sitcom and I just love it. 🙂
Don’t care about the tie, but I don’t like this white shirt with this suit. It is a washout and the fabric should be heavier to give the shirt more body if he is going to go tieless.
