Chen Sue In Georges Hobeika Couture – Luxury Life 7th Anniversary Ceremony

Chen Shu attended the Luxury Life 7th Anniversary Ceremony in Beijing, China this weekend.

The Chinese actress wore a Georges Hobeika Fall 2012 Couture gown for the occasion.

Her strawberry sleeveless gown, featuring a unique petal-layered bodice with a velvet waist belt, certainly stood out against the dark background.

I have very mixed feelings about this look.

The top half is divine; so is the train. The lighter part in the middle doesn’t work for me.

I would’ve preferred it had the skirt been a dark berry hue, but this would’ve ruined the ombre effect of the gown, so again I have very strong mixed feelings about this look.

What are your feelings about it?

I have the same feelings about this look. The gown is beautiful, but I don’t know how I feel about the lighter part either.

I think the underskirt could be pink or light red. Or some very light colour, but a shiny kind maybe – silver-shine or something.
Otherwise, it looks a bit too much like a slip just worn out of necessity to cover her legs.

But in any case, I really-really like this. The colour and the styling is on point for me.

i don’t find the middle “lighter” part of the dress an issue – in fact i wouldn’t have seen this as an issue until i read the writing underneath. This dress is to die for, and Chen is totally selling the look to me :)

    I love it.

Maybe without the lighter part it would be taken up to the next level. Right now I think it’s nice, but nothing really special as it could be.

Same here. The first thing that came to my notice is the lighter shade part, and I have to say that I don’t like it much.Though I love the waist up look.

FC I guess, the difference in shade should have flown in a more smoother way. This kind of shows the difference on the face.

I love it. It’s such a special dress. The only problem I find with this is the hair, I wishs it had been pulled up.

Love at first sight for me. Although a second look reveals a jagged edge between panel and train not noticeable on the model. Not a deal killer for me. My dilemma is whether her hair would be better swept back to showcase the beautiful neckline. Yet I like the cool casual vibe of the hair down, like the relaxed easiness with this flowing and feminine look.

my feelings are also mixed but i also feel that it’s better on her than on the runway!

I think the varying shades are interesting but the placements of the colours are a bit off. If I’m not thinking about it too much though, I do think this is a really beautiful look. Her styling is great and she looks very elegant!

I’m not torn at all! ADORED it at first sight and haven’t gone back–so BDOTW (maybe even BDOTY?) worthy. Stunning stunning. Great styling too.

Perhaps the contrast is less in person–it may look too light because of the flash on the camera. It’s very pretty, but not terribly sophisticated in my opinion.

BDOTW, even BDOTY contender for me. I love the contrasting shades. She looks like she’s glowing, like a flame!

I think the color is gorgeous!

I do like it very much. Asian Red Carpet is getting more interesting than others.

I love the lighter part. It makes the dress a unique effect. Worthy of a BDOTW nomination.

    • Nat39 November 27, 2012 at 17:53 #

Agreed completely, the gown feels so unique, totally BDOTW worthy in my eyes. My only complaint is her hair – an elegant bun would’ve been perfect here.

  19. Aline November 27, 2012 at 18:05 #

WOW! Stunning! I love it to death. BDOTW!
