With so many pretty dresses on the red carpet for the 49th Annual Golden Horse Awards in Taiwan on Saturday evening, Jiang Wenli opted for something more dramatic.
The actress selected a one-sleeve Georges Chakra Fall 2012 Couture gown.
I just love the way the sleek black and purple sequinned gown has an explosion of organza ruffled layers on the skirt.
Thankfully, the grand gown doesn’t overwhelm her petite figure.
Piaget diamond drop earrings and a black clutch from Giuseppe Zanotti accessorized her look with a slick back-do providing the finishing touches.
It’s going to be so hard to pick a favourite from all these looks.

This is too much for me!
yes, it looks like something out of Dancing with the Stars!!!
this is sensational, but if I had to pick a favorite it would be Denise Ho!
This is a very “pageant” like gown.
the dress looks it belongs to a drag queen.
this gown is truly spectacular! Jiang Wenli definitely stands out!
The gown loses all its runway fierceness and edge on Jiang. Too bad, because it could’ve been an amazing look.
+1 – so true. it’s mostly there, but not all the way there.
This gown looks like a different gown than the one we’re seeing on the runway. It looks better on the model. The purple sequins and the purple organza layers don’t have the same shade of purple on Jiang and this bothers me a lot.
The gown is way ott, looks more like a tasteless “Dancing with the stars” costume with all those sequins, heavy ruffle layers and a redundant sleeve, and it’s not working on Jiang whatsoever with her mumsy hair, presence and silhouette. Maybe someone with more stature and commanding sexy attitude could’ve brought it to life.
The angle of the photo makes her hips look slightly wide but it’s actually a very cool and dramatic dress. I love the multi-colored hem…frankly I’m very impressed with the variety on this red carpet! My main quibble here is with her hair–it’s a bit too flat.
This is not a pretty dress.
Oh I do love George’s Chakra! Love the gown and Jiang certainly holds her own. I do think it needs a little bit more attitude though. Despite that, she does look lovely!
I think its very drag queen its looks a million times better on the model.
It’s not my favorite dress but I appreciate it and I’m glad she bought drama to this red carpet.
She looks stunning! This is not a dress, it is a gown! More importantly, this is a gorgeous gown, sexy and stylish! This is a piece of art! Georges Chakra is a highly talented and original designer!
What a gorgeous gown? One thing is for sure, Lebanese designers rule the Red Carpet: Georges Chakra, Elie Saab, Zuhair Murad, Reem Accra, Basil Soda, Tony Ward, George Hobeika, Abed Mahfouz, Robert Abi Nader, among many others!
Al, you are so right.
