Jordin Sparks was one of the first to take to the red carpet at the 2012 American Music Awards held at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in LA on Sunday evening.
The singer wore an Etro Fall 2012 gown.
I love that Jordin kept her makeup simple with this long-sleeve net gown with eclectic patchwork prints and sheer panels; that was the key to pulling off this look.
A simple ponytail, nude lips, diamond stud earrings and pointy nude pumps provided the finishing touches.
I think even a clutch would’ve been one piece too much for this gown, so kudos to Jordin for pulling this off so effortlessly and successfully.

She was definitely wise to go with minimal, simple styling, but the dress’s print is very 70′s and not really doing it for me. Plus the sheer sleeves look constricting and I don’t like the sheer plunging neckline. It would have been better sans sleeves with a higher (non-sheer) neckline.
+1
I also think she pulled off this look successfully. Thumbs up from me.
wow that was risky ! i think she did great !
Yikes, this is hideous. I think to make this dress better, she should’ve cut off the black sheer sleeves and created a strapless bodice to make the silhouette prettier, there’s just too much to look at.
i agree the gown is hideous
This dress is so unflattering on her. Also, the prints and sheer paneling and sleeves are confusing.
+1
This is definitely an Etro look. I’m not a fan of the label. Its busy prints are borderline gift shop materials sold in Asia for foreign tourists. The dress is unflattering on Jordan and simply says “hi there, welcome to my stand at the arts & crafts fair.”
It’s not just “busy prints from gift shop materials sold in Asia for foreign tourists”, It’s called BATIK from Indonesia, Southeast Asia. It has meaning behind it, especially the old ones. It’s not only a fabric.
Not liking this look on her.
I’m normally impressed with her style but this one is a big no-no.
I love that Jordin went outside her comfortzone and wore this daring dress, but I don’t like the actual dress.
I would love to see her in another look from Etro.
I don’t think the Sparks-Etro match is perfect, but it certainly could work beautifully, if she picks the right look.
I think this would look great without the sheer panels, as a sleeveless gown. But love that she went out of her comfort zone!
Something wrong in the bust area…
I like that she is experimenting. I think I’ll look for more pics, maybe I would like it better if I see it from other angles. Not a particularly good color or figure flattering here.
Oh god though why would she wear this after Erin Wasson already wore it so well before, it begs a comparison and Erin easily wins.
I totally agree Erin looked Flawless
anyone wearing Etro on the red carpet deserves a virtual hi5 from me.She looks good
Jordan made it work, this is such a bold dress that fits her so well. Amazing print, one of the best dressed of the night to me.
Too much going on. The lines are making her look wider than she is.
This is an epic fail. The dress may be unique and edgy but it is also totally unflattering for Jordan. It does nothing for her, doesn’t flatter her body, doesn’t work for her at all. Did I mention this looks awful on an otherwise beautiful girl?? Worst dressed nominee.
This dress is just too difficult to carry off for most women.
