It was Rihanna’s turn to be the lady in red when she took to the red carpet for the 2012 GQ Men of the Year party – held at the Chateau Marmont in LA yesterday evening – as one of the current cover stars for the December 2012 issue.
She wore a simple Calvin Klein spaghetti-strap mini dress for the occasion, which she styled with red Manolo Blahnik strappy sandals and silver Neil Lane jewels including hooped earrings and a diamond necklace.
Keeping the red theme going, she completed her look with a red pout.
Simple, yet sexy. This just proves that Rihanna doesn’t really need to try so hard.

She is definitely growing on me. I usually feel those Calvin Klein oh so simple looks are actually quite hard to pull off, and she did, masterfully in my opinion. Way to go, Rihanna!

I love when Rihanna does minimalism. She is so pretty (those eyes!) + has a figure to die for, so imo simple outfits let her natural beauty shine through better

This is the personifiation of tacky 90s. The fake hair, cheap looking dress, continuation of one colour, and simple shoes. Somehow she makes the Neil Lane looks like plastic.
the dress is not my cup of tea, it looks like something you would wear as lingerie.
My first thought was “This the best she’s looked in ages”. And for exactly the reason you mentioned, FC: she’s not trying too hard. She looks spare and simple and is allowing her own beauty to carry the day.
I love the dress and styling apart from the hair I think if she wore her hair in the cropped look that she is sporting on her album cover she would have been my BDOTW
Tacky is the word. I hate the matchy-matchy going on – lips/dress/sandals and the sans bra thing. Plus the earrings ruined the diamond necklace.

Yeah, it’s too short to be a dress by a long shot. I really dislike these skimpy looks. Very classless, imo. I do like her hair, makeup, jewelry and shoes though! Remember that blonde hair over the summer? this is 10x better.
I’m on the fence with this one. Love the colour and the simple styling but it’s quite revealing – reminds me of Carrie’s ‘naked’ dress from the first season of SATC. But she does have the bod for it!
