Yaya DaCosta attended the 2012 Women For Women International Gala at Koch Theater, Lincoln Center, in New York City on Thursday which honoured Lucy Liu.
The former America’s Next Top Model contestant-turned-actress wore an African print strapless dress by a designer named Tafari based in Brooklyn, New York.
We are seeing African prints in a modern silhouette more and more on the red carpet as Hollywood stars continue to embrace their cultural roots.
Sporting natural locks, Yaya completed her look with glossy bronze lips and gold statement earrings.

Sooo beautiful! Love her hair especially.
She’s so regal! It’s not my style but she looks gorgeous, especially her hair.
I would have absolutely loved this if the bodice was fitted better. I hate the way it’s gapping.
Love this !!!! The colour is stunning against her skin tone! And I love her make up and the hair!
+1. Beautiful!
I like this look! Very pretty!
She looks beautiful. I love african prints and I am glad to see them more and more on the red carpet.
LOVE everything about this look. have never heard of her before but she is beautiful.
Love the hair and the nude lipstick. I feel the print is a little repetitive, and would have been assisted by a more creative cut and/or placement on the gown, but that color on her skin is sensational!
She looks beautiful. I’ve only watched a few ANTM episodes, but she is one I remember.
She looks nice!
She looks amazing. Totally BDOTW worthy!
+1 Spectacular. Hope she makes it the rest of the week.
Wow, she looks gorgeous. Love the hair.
Absolutely amazing!
Gorgeous!! Beautiful woman, love the fit of gown
amazing!!
Viola Davis and Solange Knowles would be proud- Yaya celebrates her natural beauty with flair.
BDOTW possibly, possibly.
i actually really love the 2nd image of her – because it’s all about the her light make up and that amazing natural frizzy hair. The colour of the dress – this bright orange completely compliments her skin tone and her body.
gorgeous look – very beautiful
An all-round gorgeous BDOTW look.
She is gorgeous and I love the natural hair, the earrings, and the fit of the gown. It’s the loud print that’s throwing it off for me. I like the African vibe but not the mustardy orange color.
i wouldnt call her hair locks… because she doesnt have them
While I understand the point you’re trying to make, I am certain that in this context FC meant “locks” as another way of describing hair. A lock of hair can be cut off from someone’s “locks”. In the African-American community, typically the “dreadlocked” hair that I believe you mean, is referred to as “locs” in order to distinguish.
Peeeerrrrrfection!!!
BDOTW in my eyes
Wish we can see more of her on the RC.
What a fabulous look!
What a gorgeous woman and a gorgeous dress. BDOTW
Wowzer!! BDOTW contender for me!
She looks fantastic. BDOTW contender!
I don’t really care for the dress (despite the fact that I LOVE the orange on her), but she’s gorgeous beyond words!
