We were all in shock, not in a good way, when we saw Cate Blanchett take to the red carpet at the 2012 Helpmann Awards, held in Sydney, Australia last month.
That’s because we found ourselves not liking her Fendi look.
Her LBD with balloon sleeves was styled with equally lacklustre all black accessories.
Zhang Ziyi wore the look a week later to the Dangerous Liasons’ press conference during the 17th Busan Film Festival in South Korea.
The actress totally transformed the look by taking styling inspiration from the runway, adding the peplum corseted belt, textured bolero and Fendi ‘Fendista’ pumps.
This is an easy win for Zhang.

I go for Cate but only because I can’t stand the bolero. It’s just too cave woman-ish.
I don’t like neither one.
Went for Cate because she kept the look simpler…I used to prefer Zhang’s version but I’ve switched back.
It’s just a really ugly dress, though.
Like the peplum belt and shoes, but not the borelo
Cate’s look is rather boring, but Zhang’s is too costumey. Have to go with Cate.
It’s an easy win for Zhang, I agree. She made this look work with her accessories.
+1
Legs are not Cate’s best assets. Those puffy sleeves further weighed her down. So, Zhang wins easily for me. She looked more balanced and her hair was more put together.
Well, I don’t like neither one and the dress is ain’t beautiful !
