In the 1920′s mens hair was super simple. Hair was slicked back with gel for a formal look that was thought to be both masculine and also elegant.
Usually when we see a celeb work a suit on the red carpet, they opt for feminine tresses, but when supermodel Karolina Kurkova wore a Roberto Cavalli suit last week with slicked-back locks she revitalized the menswear trend, taking it to a whole new level.
Young Emma Roberts appeared to have been inspired by this look when she donned this Nanette Lepore suit, as was Julianne Hough.
The actress/dancer also slicked back her short blonde tresses when she wore this black Chloe suit earlier this week.
Do you prefer this edgier approach to menswear-inspired dressing, or do you prefer a softer, more feminine approach?

I like the edgier mens wear inspired looks, as long as the celeb has the facial bone structure and features to pull it off. Some women (myself included) just cannot pull off the slicked back hair style.
I like both looks.I think a change is refreshing once in a while…

I like this edgier approach but, unfortunately, no matter how many times I look at Karolina I still find that she just doesn’t look attractive from the neck up. Emma Roberts is the one who pulls off the slicked-back locks the best for me in this group.
I like both, but I think this is really refreshing!
Karolina was just amazing in this suit and was my favourite by far!! I much prefer the longer pant leg in comparison to Emma’s length and I really like the slicked back hair with this outfit trend.
Not really loving this trend. Julianne certainly can’t pull it off, Emma looks better in sweet outfits, and Karolina manages it because she’s a model.
Only Kurkova managed to pull this look off. This is really making me appreciate Marlene Dietrich.
