The Paley Center for Media’s Annual Los Angeles Benefit

The Paley Center for Media’s Annual Los Angeles Benefit took place at The Rooftop Of The Lot yesterday evening in West Hollywood, California.

January Jones: The actress opted to wear a neon-pink long-sleeve Skaist Taylor romper with a shirt collar for the occasion. I love the romper, the colour especially, but her accessories are tres boring. I guess she kept the accessories neutral to ensure the focus was on the romper. Her half-up, half-down hairstyle adds a playfulness to her look, but I really dislike the ghostly makeup.

Elisabeth Moss: Just when I fell in love with Elisabeth’s blonde ‘do, she goes and pulls the rug from underneath us and returns to being a brunette. The ‘Mad Men’ actress opted for a black Helmet Lang blazer and Phillip Lim shorts with a red A.L.C. skirt to liven up the look. She accessorized her look with black pumps which disappeared into the black carpet and a Jimmy Choo ‘Candy’ clutch with an animal print. Once again I didn’t like the makeup.

Jon Hamm: The handsome actor joined his ‘Mad Men’ co-stars on the red carpet at this event. He donned a chequered dark grey suit with a white shirt and patterned tie. Whoever applied his powder before he took to the red carpet was a tad heavy handed.

Three looks, three makeup malfunctions.

The powder malfunction we can see on January Jones and Jon Hamm is explained here:

It’s not necessarily a heavy-handed make-up artist, but a powder that reacts to flash photography.
Anyway, the “ghostly face” effect is nothing new, so the make-up artist should have known better.

    I like January’s pink dress.

January killed the dress with her hair na dmakeup. It is too barbie. A more modern take would have worked better, or maybe just more refined, but not this.
Her shoes, which I die for, but maybe not with this look, are by Zara, and are also available in Black, and much more beautiful in real life. Much better than black pumps. I intend to buy them as soon as I have the time :)

Poor Elisabeth Moss. Such a talented actress, such a tragic dresser.

This event was sorely missing Kiernan Shipka. To me, she’s far and away the best dressed Mad Men star.

January looks really cute. Jon really needs to go up a size in his suits. Everything is always too tight on him.

When January Jones, in a pink ROMPER, is the best dressed of three people, you know you have a problem. John’s powder disaster is quite terrible.
