Kate Waterhouse is part of Australia’s racing royalty, as she’s the daughter of leading thoroughbred trainer Gai Waterhouse and granddaughter of racing legend Tommy “TJ” Smith, so at the Caulfield Cup Day at Caulfield Racecourse in Melbourne, Australia on Saturday Kate would’ve been in her element.
She is also the fashion editor of The Sun-Herald, so I’m a little surprised she hadn’t done her homework and discovered that this Burberry Prorsum Fall 2012 look has been done to death.
Emma Stone was the first to get her hands on this mustard and blue striped top with an aqua beaded neckline, followed by Giorgia Surina.
Nieves Alvarez wore the same top with a similar skirt on her Solo Moda show and Yoon Eun Hye wore the satin skirt back in August.
Rerun overload aside, she totally over accessorized her look.
The sandals and the Burberry clutch are OK, but the brown suede bow accented belt and leather studded headband were two steps too far.
This whole look needed a rethink.

I think is the mixing of everything what looks bad here. Eventhough the skirt looks tacky and bad executed and the headband has nothing to do neither. I can’t believe she is a fashion editor.
This dress wasn’t cute to begin with and she isn’t making this work with her accessories.
You’re right. I liked the top on Emma, but the outfit together doesn’t work for me–the skirt especially is bad here, too big. And her accessories (particularly the head band) do not go.
Dreadful. Completely mixed up.
I don’t mind the belt but the silly headband has got to go.
+1
MEOW!! loving this post… was laughing throughout.
can someone PLEASE wake me up when peplums are over? I can’t anymore.
the headband is so that she has head wear on since she’s at the races.
secondly i bet you most australians wouldn’t have a clue who/what burberry is so they would have absolutely no idea that this was a rerun. not having a go at this or anything though!
Kinda harsh Ian. Anyone who loves fashion knows this is a rerun. It was cute on Emma, bordering on casual. On Kate this is all wrong. This is a winter look, not a Spring one and certainly not one for the races. Very disappointing since she comes from a racing family and should know better.
So O.V.E.R this collection.
This collection was in O.V.E.R Status after Emma Stone wore a look from it.
Over this dress.
