Chanel’s Fine Jewelry 80th Anniversary Celebration

Here are six more looks from the celebration of Chanel Fine Jewelry’s 80th anniversary of the ‘Bijoux De Diamants’ collection, created by Gabrielle Chanel, in New York City yesterday evening.

January Jones: After knocking it out of the fashion ballpark at the Emmys, I’m deeply disappointed by January on this occasion. Between the ghostly makeup, low bandeau and the off-white maxi skirt, the best way to sum up this Chanel Fall 2008 Couture look would be “a hot mess”.

Leigh Lezark: It was left to the DJ and FROWer to bring some glamour to proceedings. Leigh looked stunning wearing a black net Chanel Pre-Fall 2010 gown with PVC embroidery which was styled with a matching bolero with a high neckline. A Perspex clutch, a simple updo and barely there makeup save for kohl-rimmed eyes completed her look.

Giovanna Battaglia: The editor gives me a dilemma. Do I look at the shoes or her Chanel Resort 2013 dress first? Because both are screaming for my attention.

Julie Henderson: The model looks divine wearing a Chanel Spring 2012 pale pink dress with pearl accents and a feathered skirt. The nude pumps are predictable and sadly the eggplant clutch is an eyesore.

Rinko Kikuchi: The Asian actress is another regular at Chanel events. She wore a cute light blue drop-waist Chanel dress with dark blue beaded embroidery around the waist and floral accents on the shoulders. It’s moments like this I’m thankful for a black carpet.

Jessica Pare: January’s ‘Mad Men’ co-star didn’t fare much better. This navy tweed Chanel dress ages her drastically. If she was going to opt for such a high neckline, she should tie all of her hair back. What happened to the girl who stunned us at the Emmys?

Am I the only one thinking that this celebration was a completely disappointment? I’m afraid to say that Alexa Chung, except for the hair, was my favourite.

Among these six women Leigh Lezark and Rinko Kikuchi are my favorites. In my opinion, Chanel is not for everybody, and sometimes the brand’s clothes are difficult to accessorize, Giovanna Battaglia is an example.

Leigh Lezark certainly stands out looking good in her black net gown. Giovanna – 2nd although could’ve opted for a simpler shoe to allow the focus to be on the detailing on the dress. Not interested in the rest.

I thought that January was Jennie garth at first. I know that hse is hit or miss, her hair and makeup are beyond awful, and the outfit is just so cheap and dated looking. I love Giovanna’s look, and I think that I’d love Leigh’s too, but the black background and carpet ruins it a little.

this is the worst dressed event of the Year..this is Disastrous considering a CHANEL event but Chanel has been pretty boring for the past few seasons ..

I wouldn’t quite agree – the Stella McCartney one was the actual worst, but given that that was McCArtney and this was Chanel this is maybe more disappointing.

    Julie: perfection.
Giovanna: like except the hands in pockets and the frayed hem.
    Jessica: simple but nice.
    Others: mess, especially January.
