Lady Gaga In Vintage Versace – Hotel Principe di Savoia

Lady Gaga was spotted leaving her hotel yesterday in Milan en route to her concert wearing yet another Versace dress.

Not just any old Versace dress, but the iconic black safety-pin dress with plunging neckline and cut-out sides which made Elizabeth Hurley famous back in 1994.

Gaga is rocking the look, I can’t deny that, but I can’t help but feel like this one should’ve stayed in the vault.

I mean, you wouldn’t get someone trying to remake Michael Jacksons ‘Thriller’.

Should this gown have stayed in the vault, or do you love that she brought back a classic?

Will this lady ever find her personal style or will she just play dressing-up forever?

This is pure, utter and simple sacrilege.

this is possibly one of the most tackiest dresses ever, elizabeth hurley managed to make it look somewhat classy though, gaga looks like a cheap hooker.

    • Yeliz October 4, 2012 at 20:49 #

      Totally agree.

    • Hannah October 4, 2012 at 23:42 #

A cheap hooker circa the 80′s.

I think its high time people see Gagag for what she is…really no talent

  4. SilentVisitor October 4, 2012 at 13:38 #

The shoes are just horrible, and the dress does not do any favor to her bust………. This dress should have stayed in the vault or at least not be recycled by Gaga

    • Miguel Angel October 4, 2012 at 13:53 #

      +1 !

  5. Beta October 4, 2012 at 13:41 #

agree with you FC, this one should have stayed in the vault. It belongs to Gianni Versacce and Liz Hurley.

  6. rita October 4, 2012 at 13:43 #

Agree with you FC! She ruined the dress with her hideous brick of shoes! At least if she wore it the way it’s supposed to be worn :-)

  7. Jess October 4, 2012 at 13:44 #

    Vault!

  8. Hannah October 4, 2012 at 13:49 #

No one should ever attempt to re do iconic fashion moments, simply because they will never be better than the first time. She should not have touched this dress and Donatella should not have let her.

    • becky October 4, 2012 at 15:55 #

      +1, esp re: Donatella

so, where was she going? out for ice cream? …..Ooooh. Cathy Horyn must be dying to write something!

  10. dyshaun October 4, 2012 at 14:03 #

While ago i wrote to you FC saying this was one of my fav dresses of all time, one of the reasons i went in to fashion.

When I saw these my gut reactions was “Oh no that B**** didnt”
This dress should be in a vault and never open, and gaga should be vaulted and never opened as well, maybe stick all those kardashians in there too

    • Fashion Critic October 4, 2012 at 14:09 #

yes you are right…my reaction to gaga wearing this dress was almost the same as yours ;)

    • Rash October 4, 2012 at 15:41 #

I hate her now ! She shouldn’t have done this.

    • ayuni October 4, 2012 at 16:24 #

      lol! totally agree

  11. dee October 4, 2012 at 14:07 #

    She is boring and ridiculous.

  12. Henrique October 4, 2012 at 14:34 #

I really liked the red versace, but I don’t like this look. It’s not a easy dress to work and yes, she fails.

  13. Agathe October 4, 2012 at 14:35 #

    Oh no.
    What’s next?
Is she going to spoil J-Lo’s iconic Versace dress also ?

    • Fashion Critic October 4, 2012 at 14:46 #

      please god no

    • justme October 4, 2012 at 19:27 #

She better not! I will march, I don’t know where but I will.
I may not like J-Lo’s current style but back then, that dress was EVERYTHING to me lol.

  14. Tilly October 4, 2012 at 14:45 #

OMG those pancake boobs. She looks truly awful.

    • snowlion October 4, 2012 at 20:51 #

I know it’s all I can see, it really does nothing for her breasts.

  15. Julie A October 4, 2012 at 15:21 #

I’m getting so bored of Gaga trying to outdo herself all the time. I 1000% agree with Beta above, this dress belongs to Gianni and Liz Hurley. I feel like Donatella is desparate for attention.

  16. HM October 4, 2012 at 15:39 #

I swear I can feel Gianni Versace rolling in his grave…there is a reason why something is iconic, because it was ground-breaking at that time. This is just blatant plagiarism…

  17. Christy October 4, 2012 at 15:51 #

While I appreciate Lady Gaga’s style, I think this was a true miss on all levels. This dress belongs to Liz Hurley and Gianni it should stay in the vault.

I just don’t understand why something that was such an iconic moment in fashion and pop-culture history would have been repeated in such a manner.

I know you’re not mean at heart, FC, but it’s one of these looks that make us long for a BFOTW category (best failure of the week) !!!

  19. sanya October 4, 2012 at 16:32 #

I don’t like it on her. The dress is really sexy, but all this makeup and shoes on Lady Gaga make the whole combination look cheap.

  20. cartouche October 4, 2012 at 16:33 #

urgh so horrible.. from the nails to the boobs to the boots. i wish she would just stop

  21. Rita October 4, 2012 at 17:12 #

She’s trying to get people to remember this dress on her than on Elizabeth… So pathetic. Well let’s see how she feels when someone will “rock” the meat dress.

  22. Anne g October 4, 2012 at 18:08 #

She looks like travestite for me.
Lady Gaga, Please don’t touch anymore iconic dress and respect fashion moments.

  23. Rafael October 4, 2012 at 18:17 #

Looovvveee love love love love love love

  24. Laura October 4, 2012 at 18:47 #

This is awful. Put it back! Liz owns this dress.

  25. justme October 4, 2012 at 19:32 #

This dress should not have been taken out of the vault, especially not for Lady Gaga. She can’t even let the dress speak for itself, she has to bring the fake ponytail, the stripper shoes and her boobs? Hmm one word: support.

  26. Jimmy October 4, 2012 at 21:53 #

Should have stayed in the vault, she does nothing for this dress and those shoes make my eyes bleed.

  27. Jones19 October 4, 2012 at 22:46 #

I can’t believe Donatella let her do this. Liz Hurley must be effing pissed right about now and Gianni must rolling in his grave.

  28. k October 4, 2012 at 23:04 #

I don’t think anyone but Liz Hurley in that moment could rock this dress as well, but I also think Gaga brings her baggage with it. I wonder if I would object if it were someone else? Not sure, but I don’t think Gaga pulls this off.

  29. Parvati October 5, 2012 at 00:40 #

Liz Hurley aside, she does look ok to me. Why she adores that type of shoe I don’t understand, but she looks dramatic. However, I just hate the concept of recycling something like that. The 1994 version worn by Liz Hurley looked gorgeous, and Gaga resurrecting old Versace pieces is actually quite audacious in my opinion. They had their time in the limelight, now leave it be.

  30. RNA October 5, 2012 at 00:54 #

    Ugh.

No. Just no. Donatella is the one to blame for this mess because she let this atrocity happen.

  31. lila October 5, 2012 at 01:47 #

She looks so cheap and ridiculous that if I were Elizabeth Hurley I wouldn’t waste a nanosecond of my life getting pissed.

  32. Joy October 5, 2012 at 07:20 #

Even though I LOVED the red Versace she wore the day before, I think this should have stayed in the vault. Also, you can’t one over something that was already fabulous. Elizabeth made that dress iconic you can’t outdo that. Gaga looked stunning in the red gown, why can’t she leave it at that. The shoes are HORRIBLE AND HORRENDOUS with this gown, that alone is making me sad to see this dress on her.

  33. EmmaWoodhouse October 5, 2012 at 15:45 #

OK, so I really dislike this gown to begin with–very trashy and revealing imo. Again, I’m not a Versace girl. That said, this woman has a knack for ruining whatever she wears.

  34. Lou October 5, 2012 at 16:48 #

I actually love that she wore this dress and did it in her own (albeit toned down) way!

  35. Lou October 5, 2012 at 16:50 #

I actually love that she wore this dress and she looks fantastic… I think she puts her own spin on the look even despite it being much toned down than usual for her!

  36. FionaK October 24, 2012 at 00:14 #

I always thought this dress was slutty and tacky to begin with. Being a big Gaga fan my first reaction was to laugh in delight at her daring to wear THE dress. I don’t think it was a case of trying to look good but more a message – I have access to ANY Versace dress. I think it was more Gaga just exerting power. Like she wore one of the most iconic dresses in fashion history – to walk from her hotel to her car…. to me that’s bad ass! :D
