Julianne Moore In Christian Dior Couture – 2012 Emmy Awards

It was impossible to miss Julianne Moore on the red carpet on Sunday evening at the 2012 Emmy Awards.

The stunning actress wore a Christian Dior Fall 2012 Couture look.

Her long-sleeved yellow Dior full silk skirt with a knitted cashmere top either wasn’t as sheer as the runway version or, unlike the model, she wore a bra with this gown.

The actress kept her look simple, wearing Fred Leighton jewels.

Loose red waves and a red lip complete the look.

Love it or hate it, I’m sure this will be the look everyone will be talking aobut tomorrow.

    • tiffany September 24, 2012 at 22:22 #

      right on!

  2. Christine September 24, 2012 at 01:16 #

You can clearly see her bra. The yellow is too bright but yes, this will surely be one of the most talked about dresses from tonight.

    Her hair and makeup, gorgeous!

I love Julianne, she has great sense of style!

  4. GiGi September 24, 2012 at 01:18 #

Usually I find her clothes appalling… but this time I think she looks fab – head to tow. Yellow is not an easy color to wear, but she looks great. And thanks for wearing a bra!

  5. Odette September 24, 2012 at 01:19 #

LOVE IT. The yellow is stunning against her red hair. I would’ve loved it more if she wore emerald earrings.

    • Gillian September 24, 2012 at 09:42 #

      yes!

  6. Luiza Maia September 24, 2012 at 01:21 #

LOVE the dress on the model, it’s so sooo chic. But i’m not sure about it on Julianne. But the colour is amazing against her head hair.

  7. Hannah September 24, 2012 at 01:30 #

I usualyl love a look liek this, simple, sleek, and in an interesting colour, but I absolutely loathe this ook. I think that it’s unflattering, I hate the chartreuse and it honestly looks cheap.

  8. pepe September 24, 2012 at 01:33 #

That dress isn’t doing nothing for her waist , she need a belt or something

  9. Nat39 September 24, 2012 at 01:37 #

This clean simple look is all about the silhouette which fails to excite on Julianne – the dress is calling for a more defined smaller waist. The hair should´ve been pulled back into an elegant ´do.

    • taksi September 24, 2012 at 03:36 #

Even with a defined waist, I feel like the placement of where the top ends/skirt begins is still awkward.

    • dee September 24, 2012 at 16:11 #

      I agree.

  10. DivaDebbi (Beauty and Fashion Blog) September 24, 2012 at 01:56 #

I am rarely a fan of JM on the RC. I don’t care for this at all, nor do I think its figure flattering.

  11. ash September 24, 2012 at 01:57 #

I was honestly not thinking of Julianne Moore when I see this dress. I’m not surprised that I don’t like it. i wish someone more statueque wore this instead.

  12. Rebecca Z September 24, 2012 at 02:24 #

Spectacular. This is just fabulous. She looks perfect.

    • Yeliz September 24, 2012 at 10:02 #

      +1! I love it.

  13. Wong Hiao Hiao September 24, 2012 at 02:35 #

Thank goodness she wore a bra. Otherwise, stunning colour but agree about the waist – it makes her torso trunk-like.

  14. EmmaWoodhouse September 24, 2012 at 02:45 #

I really appreciate the risk she took and how hard she tried but this doesn’t work for me in any way shape or form…I love yellow but it just is nowhere for me in this case.

  15. Saree September 24, 2012 at 03:02 #

Well I think she looks stunning! Her and Leslie went one up over everyone and gave us something unexpected for the Emmys and I think it works and is miles better than some others who wore all-out gowns.

I think her figure looks terrific – OR are people looking towards the left at the TOO stick-thin model on the runway and thinking the outfit should look like that? Julianne has a terrific figure – I can agree that it looks awkward below her bra – but I don’t think this is unflattering whatsoever.

    • Andrea September 24, 2012 at 09:47 #

Agree, a great dress for her. I like it more on Julianne than on the model, also her accessories are better. And wearing a bra was a very good idea :)

But i wonder what kind of shoes she had on?

  16. Moxie September 24, 2012 at 03:03 #

Nothing memorable to me. Definitely needed a belt.

  17. rebecca o September 24, 2012 at 03:33 #

love it! It goes perfect with her hair.

  18. HA September 24, 2012 at 03:39 #

    UGLY DRESS

  19. Cindy September 24, 2012 at 03:39 #

Jumping on the waist band wagon. I was going to say hate it, but with the right belt, I might have said loved it. But with the way it is, not flattering.

  20. Easybakeroven September 24, 2012 at 03:44 #

People actually talk about this stuff after watching it?

  21. HA September 24, 2012 at 03:48 #

The most hideous dress Ive ever seen……..

  22. rashmi September 24, 2012 at 06:15 #

I love it! One of the best dressed of the night for me !

  23. Sara Rostrup September 24, 2012 at 07:30 #

I love this bright color for her. The shape is moderne and the long sleeves a little unusual for a red carpet dress. The yellow colors is gorgeous with the red lips and her hair. Another hit!! LOVE xxx sara

  24. shap_half September 24, 2012 at 09:16 #

I think at first glance, she looks great, and the color is fantastic against her skin tone and hair, but after analyzing it a bit further, it’s not actually that flattering. Maybe if the skirt weren’t so high-waisted?

  25. Noemi September 24, 2012 at 09:19 #

First of all she looks beautiful, I love her hair and make up. The dress itself is beautiful, but her waist seems so wide, so I’m not enthusiastic about the fit.

  26. snowlion September 24, 2012 at 09:29 #

    Big Bird

  27. Gillian September 24, 2012 at 09:44 #

I think this look needed her hair in an updo and some interesting jewels. I feel like this would’ve been so fashion forward with unique pieces/emerald accessories because this looks really lacking to me.

  28. JS September 24, 2012 at 10:04 #

Where are my ketchup & mustard? Oh! Here you go!

  29. Zissou September 24, 2012 at 10:13 #

I think it’s ALMOST there. The problem with such an stand-out look is that the flaws ALSO stand out.
It looks absolutely amazing on the model though.

  30. Mick September 24, 2012 at 10:17 #

I find her one of the most beautiful women, but tt seems to me that neither the color or the type of dress is flattering for her

  31. Lou September 24, 2012 at 10:52 #

I think Julianne poulls it off… but I’m not so keen on the waist style of theis dress on her. Not sure if a belt would have rectified this – maybe a nice bold pattern or jewels?

  32. TeaAtTwo September 24, 2012 at 12:40 #

Aside from not having much waist definition I think it’s a bold look that she pulls off. Love the beautiful colour.

  33. gabis September 24, 2012 at 13:12 #

I’m astonished so much people hate this look lol, it was one of my favorites. I think she looks stunning and breathtaking! I love everything about this look, even her loose waves as her hair colour looks great against the yellow dress.
She looks amazing even in comparison to the runway model. I do love the model’s neck cuff but I don’t think it would work on Julianne, so I’m glad she opted for a bracelet instead.

  34. Mara September 24, 2012 at 14:05 #

She looks really beautiful but that dress?? I bet she opted that color because it matched her golden Emmy LOL

  35. Nat September 24, 2012 at 14:15 #

I LOVE the dress, but watching the Emmys yesterday I noticed it was doing a lot of awkard things on her chest area. She obviously did the right thing in wearing a bra, but she should have chosen a different one (maybe this was strapless?).

  36. Sabina September 24, 2012 at 15:09 #

So unpredictable from her, but oh so lovely, she’s a vision!

  37. Jones19 September 24, 2012 at 15:17 #

I love the dress! It makes her look a little boxy but other than that this is glorious.

  38. Linda September 24, 2012 at 15:24 #

    LOVE!!!!!!!!!

  39. Agathe September 24, 2012 at 16:26 #

Quite a Marmite dress indeed, but for me it works beautifully.

  40. Quinn September 24, 2012 at 16:30 #

I laugh reading all the comments. Its either ppl love it or hate it. just like you said FC! I’m with those who love it. I like that the dress is simple but at the same time has a little awkwardness to it. and the color is gorgeous especially against her hair color. I hope this dress is one of your pick for ‘Who is the best dressed at Emmy’ pole. finger crossed! xx

  41. Derek September 24, 2012 at 17:10 #

    Best dressed of the night
She took a risk and in my opinion it paid off
This is not the best photograph of her in the dress, but if you look at other pics or saw her on the telecast you really see how amazing she looks.

  42. Alina September 24, 2012 at 17:11 #

    Love!

  43. Paulo September 24, 2012 at 17:48 #

I can’t get past how high the skirt is on Julianne. That can’t be comfortable for her boobs when she’s sitting down.

  44. FC310 September 24, 2012 at 19:14 #

I love the minimal design of this gown and the color on Julianne, but the fit is kinda awkward around her waist. She needs a bejeweled neck brace as seen on the runway with her hair tied back in a ponytail so as not to accentuate her slightly bigger middle. I think someone with a nipped waist might do better in this gown.

  45. amparo September 24, 2012 at 19:15 #

Love the look. It is unfair to compare her with the model maybe about 18th years old, but anyway she looks amazing.

  46. Amy September 24, 2012 at 19:26 #

    This is underwhelming

  47. noo September 24, 2012 at 21:11 #

    lovely!

  48. El September 24, 2012 at 21:13 #

The dress can look good only on a super skinny model. On her it looks cheap and doesn’t flatten her figure…

  49. glenn September 24, 2012 at 21:57 #

    she look stunning !!!!

  50. lila September 25, 2012 at 01:14 #

The problem is not exactly the size of her waist, but how close the waist detail is from her breasts. The waistband should be smaller and placed a bit lower, that would give the impression of a more defined waist. The way it is it basically looks like her breasts are sitting on the waistband and the bra makes that even worse. That ill-fitting detail aside, I still think she looks magnificent and is one of the best dressed of this event.

  51. B September 25, 2012 at 06:44 #

LOOOVE IT! one of my favourites of the night. I wonder what the back looks like?? it is cut out?
