Marchesa designers Keren Craig and Georgina Chapman were inspired by the spirit of India in the 60s for their Spring 2013 collection.
With celebrities packing the front row at Grand Central Station on Wednesday afternoon, we were treated to a stunning array of what Marchesa do best: red-carpet dresses and gowns.
Heavily beaded dresses, flirty fringed frocks, delicately draped, sari-inspired gowns, tunics paired with Capri pants, and bejewelled cropped tops worn with pants or floating chiffon skirts proved to be a big hit with the front row and celebrity stylists.
Rich brocades were kept simple and embellishment free, chiffon dresses were tastefully trimmed with gold beaded details and silhouettes stayed true to the Bollywood theme whilst still feeling very modern and current.
Some of you may think some of the pieces are a tad OTT, but I envision them looking even more spectacular on the red carpet.
The colour palette of rich Bordeaux, eggplant and teal green did give the collection a fall-like feel, but with celebs snapping this collection up very soon, those piece would look great on the red carpet come October.
Chartreuse, white, gold coral, orange and pretty pinks made up the rest of the collection.
Gem Palace provided the opulent jewels, Marchesa beaded bags were presented alongside their signature quartz clutches and Christian Louboutin provided the footwear which ranged from flat and beaded to T-bar midi heels shimmering in gold.
This was a favourite presentation this fashion week. Even with three more rounds to go, I can’t see anyone topping this for me. Bring on awards season.
Front Row: Olivia Palermo, Bar Refaeli, Stacy Keibler, Jenna Dewan Tatum, Kanye West, Kim Kardashian and Sarah Hyland
Favourites: Bordeaux fringed gown and white crop top paired with chiffon skirt
Who I See Wearing This Collection: Blake Lively, Penelope Cruz, Kate Winslet, Jessica Beil, Amber Heard, Stacy Keibler, Viola Davis, Anne Hathaway, Kerry Washington, Camilla Belle, Diane Kruger, Elle Fanning and many more

The two designers must be quaking in their Manolos, hoping Kim doesn’t pick up any of these delicate dresses. They would look quite ridiculous on her!
I think all the pieces, with a few exceptions, are OTT. But I know that many celebs will choose to wear a piece from this collection, therefore I’m looking forward to see how they will style their look.
Look 31 is my favourite. Can’t say the same about the rest though.
My favorite is look 28.
WOW! i am shocked a collection that is beautiful and actually different for a change, rather than looking like it came from a disney princess closet. the red dress on the top of the page is too die for.
FC who do you se in the fringed bordeaux gown? I think it is beautiful, but needs someone very tall, thin, flat and with incredibly stature to pull it off.
Florence welch
I think Diane Kruger would rock the grey dress you’ve posted.
Not a Marchesa fan but I would DIE to see Florence Welch in that crimson fringe dress. I WOULD DIE.
UGH, I’m sorry this is one of the worst collections I’ve seen. I really like the bollywood influence but Marchesa failed to give it life. Some pieces are really nice but most of them suffer from Marchesa’s usual illness : overload of details. Between feathers, fringes, jewels at the same time some of the clothes look like arabian carpets.I don’t get their obsession with fringes (I still remember that awful dress Blake lively wore): they did it every possible way last season. Most of those clothes won’t look as good when worn on the Red Carpet.
Whatever, I’m sure starlets will still wear them
agree. could you get anymore LITERAL!?
Wooow, the red dress is divine
I would love to see Nicole Kidman in the cranberry fringe gown.
I like it — an east meets west theme. Some of them are a bit OTT (and some are a lot OTT), but I can’t wait to see them on the red carpet.
Hilary Rhoda. Dying. Definition of a supermodel.
OMG Red Dress is so so gorgeous..
Not a fan of the exposed midriffs but a lot of this collection was very beautiful and elegant!
Love Marchesa designs!
I like a bit of OTT now and then. Love the influence of India on Western designers, great mix. I’m in love with the 2-piece white number. Gorgeous!!!!
All of these are absolutely GORGEOUS. And I can’t get enough of lace!
look 20 is my favorite, i could wear that to my prom and still be different from the rest, most of them are really very pretty
