Marc Jacobs Spring 2013

Marc Jacobs’s Spring 2013 collection presented boldly striped fabrics which were used on just about everything from separates to dresses in a variety of lengths and styles.

I loved the ruffled collar pieces which gave a quirky touch to this 60s-inspired collection.

Other details included scalloped edges and peplum details in this surprisingly wearable collection which features low-slung skirts, cropped jackets, T-shirts, ladylike coats, pencil skirts and A-line skirts.
As the collection moved on – at a very fast pace – the stripe prints progressed into psychedelic geometric prints, which is what I called the red-carpet portion of the presentation.

I would love to see Tilda Swinton wearing that black-and-white striped beaded jumpsuit and I think Rose Byrne would look equally comfortable in the final look: a T-shirt-style dress with chiffon inserts in the skirt.

The pale-face trend continues at Marc Jacobs, with the model’s hair side-parted into messy ponytails.
Key accessories included pointy bags and a selection of bags and totes, some of which incorporated stripes.

The presentation ended with all the models taking to the runway to the welcome of flash bulbs popping at the speed of light. This was the moment my camera battery sadly decided to die, leaving me without the money shot.
