Lily Colins attended the ‘Writers’ premiere at the Toronto Film Festival last night.
For the event, the actress wore a dress from the Balmain Pre-Fall 2012 collection.
There’s something about the proportions that don’t work here. The dress on its own is stunning, though it’s shortening Lily’s neck – something I don’t think can be rectified by an updo.
The Casadei blade pumps are inoffensive, but a higher heel would’ve worked better.
There’s no denying her beauty, however, and the pink lip and strong brow are on point.

love love love love it!
The shoe choice is dull, and the dress is simply not working for her. One needs longer slimmer legs/more modelesque figure to pull it off. (thinking Brooklyn Decker for example).
An updo wouldn’t look good with such a high neckline IMO. I think loose hair is right for this dress. She looks great.
She’s very pretty, but this dress IMO would work a lot better with a much higher heel and hair up!
Hi Kate, I’ve noticed you’ve been posting a fair bit while NYFW has been going on, but it seems to be that almost every post you make you have something negative/critical to say about what the celebrity is wearing. I understand we all have personal tastes, but I’m not convinced that is really the philosophy of this blog. I think there tends to be a much more celebratory take on celebrities trying new looks or succeeding with simple or clean looks. There are plenty of other sites and magazines who focus on ‘how things don’t work’ so it would be great if we could keep this blog focused on success. It’s hard enough to imagine that anyone will look great 100% of the time, but picking only images of celebrities that you take issue with means the audience of this site will also have fewer chances to see those 100% perfect moments.
Uninspiring shoes and no attitude. I don’t like it!
Dress is okay, shoes aren’t working for me.
Her hair and make up looks good, but the dress needs to be cinched in the waist and those pumps are too matronly for her.
I agree
Her shoes dragged down the whole look for me…
I think the dress is really ugly, actually. The shoes are odd, hair and makeup are good but not with this look.
I wish she went with the belt and booties from the runway. Either way, I still looooove this!!!!
Oh honey no. Just no.
The neckline n the shoes are a bit off but like u say FC,there’s no denying her beauty.
wow on top..fail on shoes
well the shoes uhhh but the rest ok
