Anna Kendrick took the red carpet for the Toronto Film Festival premiere of her latest movie, ‘End Of Watch’ last night.
The actress wore a black Elie Saab Fall 2012 gown.
Her black long sleeve gown with net lace detail is beautiful, but I’m not excited about seeing it on Anna, especially as I had mentally reserved it for Angelina Jolie.
At first I blamed the poor photography at this event, but I realized I was just making excuses and settled on the fact that this is just not working for me.
Someone taller and with more presence was needed to pull this off.
Anna styled her look Brian Atwood peep-toes, Forevermark jewels and a Judith Leiber clutch.

Considering my dislike of high slits and cobwebby designs, I wasn’t a big of this dress (even though it IS by Elie Saab). Add to that Anna, who, like you said, doesn’t have the presence (Angie or Cate might have made me like it
), and you have an underwhelming look imo.
I feel like she does an Elie Saab Gown justice, as she proved on her awards season tour (landed a BDOTY spot), but if she was going to go for this gown she really had to go for it. An updo and some makeup (smokey eye or a red lip) with better shoes (she used to have amazing shoe game
) and a pose would have changed this look. Instead I feel like she liked the dress, but, being that it is Torotno film festival ,didn’t want to be too high glamour, in which case she should have gone for a different dress.
Also, I find photos from these sorts fo red carpets, where the photographers are so close, never capture a red carpet moment very well.
You are so right, FC–this dress is wearing Anna, not the other way around. It is such a beautiful dress and she is a lovely young woman but together they don’t work.
She def. lacks height and commanding presence to make this sexy look work fully.
