Selena Gomez In Marchesa – ‘Spring Breakers’ Toronto Film Festival Premiere

Selena Gomez attended the ‘Spring Breakers’ premiere during the Toronto Film Festival last night.

The actress chose a Marchesa Spring 2012 oyster illusion dress with scale-like embroidery and draped cascade tulle skirt for her trip down carpet.

This look is quite a departure from the leopard-print sheath she was spotted in earlier in the day.

While there is a lot going on, I think she’s confident enough to pull it off.

I love the intricate details on the bodice.

The hair and make-up are pretty, and the Jimmy Choo ‘Calista Glitter’ clutch is a red carpet winner.

I think she looks stunning and can totally pull it off

  2. Johnny September 10, 2012 at 22:33 #

i think she looks great but she could be better

This dress seems suitable for a tall dancer on stage like a Vegas Showgirl. It doesn’t seem to have off stage / real world use.

    • Amy September 10, 2012 at 14:16 #

haha, I thought the exact same thing. She looks like Vegas gone wrong and this dress need someone taller

  4. Christine September 10, 2012 at 06:37 #

Wow, this is awful. Not a good look. It looks pretty tacky. Not a fan of the skirt.

Whilst I actually hate the dress in and of itself (I am no Marchesa fan), I believe Selena pulled it off with her perfect styling. Hair and makeup are total wins, the Jimmy Choo clutch is adorable, and her shoes perfectly compliment the dress. She gets an A from me.

Cheesy and ugly dress, just terrible. Tacky shoes. Hair and makeup are good.

Ok…points for effort, wearing something appropriate (thank goodness the bodice is lined), and styling it well. I like elements of the dress but it does veer VERY ice-skatery, with that unfortunate skirt and long sheer sleeves. I love Marchesa often, but they have a tendency to go very cheesy. This is…kind of cheesy. It reminds me of the Marchesa she wore at the EMAs.

The brand itself is a brazen disaster…………..

The skirt looks ridiculous on Selena and on the model. I do love the embroidery on the bodice, her hair and accessories.

I prefer the leopard-print sheath on her.As a matter of fact, I don’t think this frock favors any type of body.I rarely likes this label, always too much information, too much bulk everywhere.

I’d agree with the comments above. It’s a beautiful dress but does not flatter her figure or height. And the shoes are almost too clunky for the delicate dress. This look is too mature for her.

  12. Alina September 9, 2012 at 09:42 #

    IMO, she wears it beautifully.

  13. Radhika September 9, 2012 at 08:21 #

Probably shortening the dress to knee-length would have worked better for her height. If the flare’s gone, she’s pulled off the dress very well. I do however despise the shoes.

The most sophisticated and fashion forward I’ve ever seen her look, imo. Props!!!

  15. Carina S. September 9, 2012 at 03:30 #

IMO Selena is too short to wear this dress, it looks so much better on the model.

  16. Laura September 9, 2012 at 03:15 #

Are they incapable of making a gown that doesn’t look like it belongs on a figure skater/ballroom dancer?

    • Vidhya September 9, 2012 at 18:01 #

I don’t get Marchesa’s esthetic. They only cater to angels, fairies and princesses.

      • justme September 9, 2012 at 22:44 #

        lmao seriously
I’m starting to think Marchesa’s creative director is a 6-year-old girl.

The skirt of this dress is just a mistake. Really–a massive ruffle up the back of your butt? C’mon, give a girl a chance to look good. Selena is adorable–the dress is a disaster.

    • Moxie September 10, 2012 at 15:56 #

Couldn’t agree more — that skirt is ridiculous. No one but a ballroom dancer should wear a skirt like that.

  18. FC310 September 9, 2012 at 01:09 #

I think this dress is more suitable for somebody who’s more mature…Selena is so sweet and cute, but this dress makes her look borderline “cha-cha”.

  19. Francesca September 9, 2012 at 00:28 #

She’s had an amazing promo tour so far and this look is no exception! She really looks happy and confident.

  20. Marybeth September 8, 2012 at 23:20 #

Whoa…. that dress looks like it would be a complete disaster on anyone under seven feet and over 90 pounds! Even on the model it’s a bit of a mess.

And yet I must say Selena looks great. Somehow all of that STUFF doesn’t overwhelm her or even make her look hippy.

  21. Natalie September 8, 2012 at 23:19 #

I think it looks gorgeous on the model.

  22. Hannah September 8, 2012 at 23:11 #

I like teh dress, but it doesn’t work on her IMO – I think it makes her look a little boxy, and maybe on someone taller or with a better pose it would have worked better. I also think that it would suit someone a bit older.
I love her accessoreis, though. Her Sergio Rossi ‘Song’ Sandals are divine.

  23. Terry September 8, 2012 at 23:07 #

She also wore Sergio Rossi Song sandals.

  24. Naomie September 8, 2012 at 22:58 #

I think this dress has to be worn by someone taller…

    • Fanny September 9, 2012 at 07:46 #

+1… she looks weird in that dress

  25. Kennedy September 8, 2012 at 22:55 #

I’m going to be burned at the stake for saying this- but I think Blake Lively could have pulled this off much better. The dress nearly requires long legs and more height so it doesn’t overwhelm. Not a fan of the frill at the bottom. Reminds of A LOT of the Mario Schwab dress Jessica Chastain more a while back.

    • love September 9, 2012 at 03:03 #

i totally agree i came here to say the same thing! height is definitely a requirement for this dress!

  26. Parvati September 8, 2012 at 22:54 #

I don’t like this look. However, I’m not sure it’s her fault, because I don’t like the dress on the runway, either.

    • noo September 9, 2012 at 01:49 #

      exactly how i feel!
