Kate Hudson’s ‘Venetian Goddess’ Venice Film Festival Hair

Kate Hudson made a triumphant return to the red carpet last week at the Venice Film Festival. We spoke to her long-time hair stylist David Babaii about the behind-the-scenes preparation that went into her ‘Venetian Goddess’ inspired looks.

‘The Venice Film Festival was a lot of fun and it also marked my 10 year anniversary working with Kate. She’s my boho princess, she’s just so cool and sexy but also down to earth so the hair was all about keeping it effortless. For all her looks we went for something real women could do at home – something loose and approachable.’

‘First I washed Kate’s hair and blew it out using a few drops of IT&LY’s Pure Water Drops Serum for a bit of polish. Kate has really curly hair so I blowdry it to get it smooth and then I put the waves that I want back in using a curling iron with a two inch barrel..It’s more of a bend than a wave.’

‘Then I like to use a bit of IT&LY’s Pure Definition Hair Spray for that day old look. While I like a bit of chaos in the hair, I always want the roots to be perfect so my trick is to spray a bit more hairspray onto a toothbrush and smooth it along the roots.’

‘My favourite look for Kate was when we put it up – but not perfectly up. I put a lot of texture through it (try IT&LY’s Pure Volumizing and moisturizing texturizer) and then pinned it up in the back using only five pins. Again it was loose and kind of chaotic.’

The IT&LY’s Purity line is cruelty free and contains a unique Desert Blend containing vegetable extracts and protein from Agave, Yucca and Prickly Pears plants to hydrate protect against UV rays.
