In a shock move, Jessie J chose to cover up for the 2012 GQ Men of the Year Awards earlier this week.
The singer, who’s best known for her outlandish, skintight outfits, was barely recognisable in this double-breasted Emilio Pucci gown.
Yes, there’s still that flash of leg, triangle of bare back and plunging neckline, but the sheer volume of the dress was enough to prompt me to do a double-take.
The cut is divine on Jessie, as are the sequinned lapels and handy pockets. The metallic shoes are also gorgeous and the gold locket is the perfect eye-catcher.
Is it just me or has her hair been toned down from jet black to a softer brunette? The dewy cheek and orange lip also add a feminine touch.

Who Was Your Best Dressed At The amfAR Cinema Against AIDS Gala?

I love the gown, I really do, but she’s not selling it to me. At all. I don’t like her hair colour (or the styling) and the makeup.
I think this is the first time I have liked a look from her. I certainly prefer her as a brunette.
Woah ! The best she’s ever looked ! A BDOTW-worthy to me !
Don’t remember her looking this good, sophisticated sexy. BDOTW worthy for me, no doubt.
The dress is perfect for her, beautiful. I’m torn on the hair though – its a gorgeous colour and she does look good with is but I think the jet black she used to have would’ve made the whole look much more dramatic and diva-ish…
Wow! She looks so great! Stylish and fashionable! I don’t think she has ever looked this good! Also, hair and make-up looks great on her. BDOTW!
Call me crazy, but I kinda love this. The fit is great, the slit is cool but luckly she’s not overdoing it à la Lea Michele, and she got it right with the shoes.
I’m not too sure about the hair, though. She looks more “normal”, but also much more ordinary. The “Cleopatra” black bob was a lot more distinctive, it made her stand out and be recognizable.
What a refreshing change! She looks fab!
+1
Gosh, this is BDOTW!
WOW!
She looks stunning. I love her new look!
Ehh…I don’t love it. Still so much skin showing. If there were less slit, and a closed back, I would like it better. I think she should have gone all the way with the masculine look and then balanced it with feminine hair and makeup. I like her as a brunette.
I love it. BDOTW contender.
She is such a chameleon! Who would’ve guessed this was her? I love the hair colour, but I prefer her with bangs. Aside from that she looks fab.
