Who Wore Lanvin Better? Jessica Alba or Lily Donaldson

Jessica Alba was the first to don this elegant ivory-and-black Lanvin Spring 2012 dress to celebrate the designer’s Fall 2012 presentation during Paris Fashion Week back in March.

I love Jessica’s impeccable style choices and this one-shouldered Lanvin design was no exception. She accessorized with some matching black heels and a bulky black ring to keep the black-and-white theme going, along with a chic updo to finish off this sophisticated ensemble.

However, little did we know that this would not be the last time we saw this asymmetrical monochrome dress make an appearance.

Lily Donaldson played copycat and rocked a near-identical look when she officially opened the Harrods Summer Sale in June. She too added subtle jewels by Boodies so as to not take away too much from the bedazzled dress and kept the rest of her look simple.

Black pumps, minimal makeup and a simple swept-up ponytail completed her look.

I’m really having a hard time choosing as they both look phenomenal. While I’ve always been a fan of Jessica Alba, I’m leaning towards Lily’s look.

Her lengthier frame totally rocks this one-shouldered frock.

You can buy Jessica’s and Lily’s Lanvin dress from Luisa via Roma.

The dress fits Lily perfectly so my vote goes also to her.

This looks better on Lily. The shoulder isn’t fitting right on Jessica.

This is a hard decision, but I have to go with Lily. She is a model, after all, and she could wear virtually ANYTHING and look good. She just has that kind of body/face. Not saying Jessica isn’t pretty as well. She totally is! I’m loving her smoky eye, and the dress does look better against her skin tone than Lily’s. Still, I don’t like the ring or her pointy black pumpms.

Lily: because the dress fits better on Lily, and it some how seems lighter, not as gloomy and dark… don’t know how to explain, I just love it on Lily much more! 🙂

Love all your posts FC keep up the great work! You should totally do a “Who Wore It Better” post about that Fall 2012 Tom Ford dress that was worn by first Jennifer Lawrence (in black with a open back) at a Paris photocall, then Laura Bailey (In red as a gown) at a Tom Ford dinner in London, then Charlize Theron (in black as a mini-dress) on Jimmy Kimmel Live in LA, then by Kate Beckinsale (In black with a closed zipper back) at the Guys Choice Awards, then Kim Kardashian (in white) at the BET awards, and then finally (for now) by Jennifer Lopez (In red with an open back) at her birthday day party! It would be pretty epic! I’m surprised that no one has opted for the original gold/bronze sequin version, especially JLo!! But Rihanna did wear that version on a magazine cover and Cheryl Cole also wore the dress in red in a editorial!
