The Salvatore Ferragamo Spring 2012 collection was very popular with celebrities, but it was this tri-colour halter gown which had three turns on the red carpet.
While they all may be wearing the same design, they definitely add a little of their own personal style to the dress, giving it a different look that suits each individual and the occasion they have chosen to wear it to.
Rosario Dawson was the first star seen trying the trend to the 2012 Vanity Fair Oscar after-party back in February. She swept up her locks to show off the halter-neck detail and accessorized by adding some oversized earrings. She completed her look with deep purple peep-toe pumps, which I’m not too crazy about with this particular attire.
Zhang Xin Yi was next to wear the design, donning this gorgeous magenta-and-turquoise gown with a red sash tied to the waist for the Second Annual Beijing Film Festival in April. She paired the look with a matching Ferragamo blue clutch. She completed her look with silver jewels and a sleek updo for a very classy yet elegant finish.
Jennifer Lopez gave the look a more dressed down, bohemian vibe when she wore it to the Fox studios in May for the ‘American Idol’ live results show, making it into very afternoon-appropriate attire.
She paired this lovely gown with some Giuseppe Zanotti purple-bow-accented platform sandals, which complement the vibrant dress rather well. She finished off this Glamazon look with gold-hooped earrings and a matching golf cuff, and opted for her luscious locks to be left down and flowing freely.
Even though these stars may have been playing copycat of one another, they all managed to change up their accessorizes quite a bit, adding their own unique flair to the dress. I for one think they all look great, but Zhang Xin Yi looks the more glamorous so she wins for me.

As much as I adore Rosario, Zheng looks amazing in this.
Although, I do wonder how Jen would look in this if this wasn’t a pap-shot, but rather a fully glammed-one.
Zhang Xin Yi looks gorgeous! I think she has a detail that makes all the difference: her sash is perfectly tied. I love that it looks wide and the fabric flows on the side of her skirt.
In comparison, Rosario sash looks too skinny and sloppy.
+1 What made the difference for me was the sash. It created the polished and elegant look.
Zhang Xin Yi wins for me.
Zhang Xin Yi looks gorgeous. The other girls look okay but she looks sensational.
Zhang Xin Yi owns the dress. her red sash is perfectly tied
Although the gown looks the best on Zhang, I don’t like her updo, so Rosario wins for me.
Somehow it seems to me this dress depends mostly on body shape. Jennifer Lopez looks obese, while Zhang Xin Yi, the skinniest of them, looks the best on it.
Rosario Dawson is not that big nor that skinny, so she is just ok.
I agree, I like that she dressed it up while the other two dressed it down.
