Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge In Roksanda Ilincic – UK’s Creative Industries Reception

Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge attended the UK’s Creative Industries Reception at the Royal Academy of Arts in London this evening, following a day of supporting Zara Phillips during her equestrian competition during the 2012 Olympics.

At this point we expect repeats from the Duchess, so you won’t be surprised to know that her Roksanda Ilincic Spring 2011 ‘Peridot’ dress has been worn once before.

The dove grey dress with a draped neckline, pleated front skirt and cinched in waist was thankfully styled with a new hairdo. Hallelujah.

The neat low bun is welcome change to her trademark flowing tresses.

Olympic ring-style Kiki McDonough earrings, grey suede LK Bennett pumps to match her dress and a sparkling clutch completed her look.

I don’t mind that she wore this dress before, it’s beautiful. And sans the shoes, this look is a total win for me. I am SO glad that she wore her hair up.

  2. noo July 30, 2012 at 20:28 #

I loved the dress more the first time around because i quite hate these shoes!!! Also the bun is not her best hair as it ages her imo.

PS: The earrings are blue topaz hoop earrings by kiki mcdonough!

      thanks

she looks good in everything she wears, but her looks are repetitive and boring..

  4. Ciara July 30, 2012 at 20:35 #

LOVE the hair! Beautiful! Shoes are a let down for me. Nude (LK Bennett I’m guessing) pumps again?

    • noo July 30, 2012 at 21:32 #

her usual shoes are the lkb sledge in nude! these are lk bennett harper pumps in grey!

        thank you

OMG, she looks so old………….too much make up

  6. Molly July 30, 2012 at 20:37 #

Thank you lord for a new hairstyle! I dont think I could handle yet another outing for her sausage curls. She always looks much more regal when she wears her hair up instead of constantly having to push her hair out of the way.
I loved this dress on her last year so Im glad that she brought this one back out. This seems to be an overall win, new hairstyle, shes wearing a color, and she isnt wearing her nude pumps. Well done.

  7. Nat39 July 30, 2012 at 20:40 #

She looks really pretty with that hairstyle that also allows to show off the neckline. Casadei blade pumps in light grey would’ve been fantastic here instead of those suede pumps.

…just wish she’d worn a version with the puffy peplum, and the neckline of the dress had been pulled a bit closer/tighter to her neck to create a narrower shoulder-a bit bigger hip silhouette. She is broad-shouldered and has very narrow hips.

LOVE her hair up and love this color on her

I think she looks amazing! I think its great that she combines her “re-cycled” looks with striking accessories to create different spins on the same ensemble. I adore her hair in the low bun.

She looks so pretty. Gorgeous dress and her hair is lovely. She’s just not a risk taker. She also looks to me like she got some sun on her face, but maybe it is too much makeup.

  12. j July 30, 2012 at 21:07 #

Wow! Her hairdo gives her such a refined look and softens her face, which can often appear harsh due to her face shape, thinness, and makeup “techniques.” Speaking of which, her makeup looks much better than in the past, even though she has dark eyes once again. And the dress is lovely and I am thankful she showed off that neckline.

The shoes are of course bleh, but she always does monochromatic accessories. I can look past it here.

    • Ahot July 31, 2012 at 12:28 #

lmao @ makeup “techniques”. I think she sleeps in her dark eyes. Glad we don´t have a closeup, because that blush looks quite heavy.

  13. Malinda Jane July 30, 2012 at 21:12 #

She is THIN. I can’t get past it. I wish she’d at least wear something to give her body some more shape.
This makes her look wide in the shoulders and inhumanly small at the waist.

    • Grace Patricia July 30, 2012 at 23:51 #

Agreed. I like her hair and the dress but I don’t like the way it is displayed on her body. I also dislike her curved back when she stands, it makes her look not confident at all. I also would like to see her wearing some really nice shoes and a colorful clutch. Her makeup ages her. I miss Lady Di a lot when I see her!

fashion critic, isn’t it hilarious how in your 3rd photo, the guy is totally staring at her boobs? :)

    • Fashion Critic July 30, 2012 at 21:23 #

      yes…I noticed that too.

      • hero2013 July 30, 2012 at 21:35 #

        She doesn’t have any!

        • Juliana July 30, 2012 at 22:11 #

And he is the prime minister!

      • Rebecca Z July 30, 2012 at 22:23 #

Isn’t that guy the Prime Minister?

        • Fashion Critic July 30, 2012 at 22:28 #

          yes

  15. Mia July 30, 2012 at 22:00 #

whoever gave her this dress to wear is a dumb dumb. She has a broad back and this dress makes her look like a swimmer/quarterback. This look is a fail.

  16. yyc July 31, 2012 at 03:42 #

she is pretty but always dresses too maturely. She looks good in clothes, no doubt, but she should consider more prints. And younger, summery and trendier colours.

  17. Kathy July 31, 2012 at 05:03 #

She looks amazing, as usual. I think she is the only person who can pull off the thick eye makeup time after time without looking like a pageant queen. Carrie Underwood, take note.

  18. TL July 31, 2012 at 06:53 #

The dress, her hair and the earrings are all lovely.

But the heavy eye makeup ages her a lot.

I prefer the runway version as it looks like she has had hers modified.

  20. Lee Ann July 31, 2012 at 09:23 #

She looks like a man in this dress-. Colour :no, material:no, shoes: disaster. This woman is an Epic failure as a dresser

  21. d July 31, 2012 at 09:44 #

    DONT LIKE THE MAKE UP!!!

  22. Dan Oliver July 31, 2012 at 10:20 #

I am not usually a fan of her choices she dresses far to old and dowdy in my opinion but i love the new hairstyle she should definitely experiment more

  23. Chick July 31, 2012 at 15:17 #

Kate is a fashon dull. Her hair looked beautiful and I can live with the dress but the shoe choice is horrible. She is simply too young and famous to be repeatedly boring. She has too many creative people at her fingertips to not know how to choose classy but modern and youthful clothes. And if the creative people are not available, then dial Victoria Beckham.

  24. tiffany July 31, 2012 at 20:49 #

hmph…maybe it’s the angles, but someone is looking a bit thin. still, she is a picture of perfection and I hope she starts a trend in recycling clothes. Let’s get real. 98% of the population can’t afford to wear different outfits all the time. And what message does that send if we could? I’m rich, fabulous & wasteful? PASS!
