Marion Cotillard was perfection personified as she took to the red carpet this evening at the Odeon Leicester Square for ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ London premiere.
Even the rain couldn’t dampen her spirits. She was radiant wearing a Christian Dior Fall 2012 Couture dress.
I knew it wouldn’t be long before she got her hands on this collection, being the face of the brand.
Her strapless frock with an orange-textured top and printed skirt was accented with a gold metal waistband.
I swoon over her accessories which included a Dior red clutch and Dior red pumps that matched her bold lip colour.
Sporting a silver bracelet, she completed her chic Parisian look with a faux bob.
Are you in love with this look as much as I am?

I totally agree that this look is perfection. She wears it much better than the model did– love her accessory choices!
If her clutch had been the exact same shade as her shoes and lips I would have loved it. But if you’re going to put red next to orange, please stick with the same red.
This is PERFECTION!!! I love it sooo much!
and OMG have you seen her ring??…. She can compete with victoria Beckham 😉
This outfit would look good for a photocall but not for a movie premiere.
the dress is gorgeous on her!! but is this honestly what couture has come to? the fashion house’s biggest mistake ever was getting rid of galliano. im sure i he had made a racist comment regarding any other religion or race, no one would hear about them ….
love your blog FC! it’s my treat for the day so thank you for always making me happy xxx
thank you very much. glad to hear it x
Yes, FC, I love it as much as you do. Great look from head to toe.
I love it if it the top is not the best fit,but she still looks gorgeus
LOOOVE!
i do like the look, but the different reds of the bag and shoes really bothers me…not a fan of the very matchy-matchy, but the different reds detract from the rest of the outfit
so feminine and french….i love this look
I didn’t really enjoy the collection so it’s nice to see that it translate so well on the red carpet.
She looks really amazing! I love the colours and she makes it look effortless. So good!
She looks good, but this is not a premiere outfit. I just can’t like it.
She looks great! She’s so chic in that dress and glad that she didn’t opt for a more dramatic look to outshine Anne.
Head to toe PERFECTION!!! I absolutely love it!
I fail to see how this qualifies as ‘perfection’, and I tried. This is sloppy. Nothing more, nothing less.
Now this is BDOTW stunning! Gorgeous! So much better than the NY premiere 🙂
She was great, but I don’t think this is a look for a premiere. For an event like that I like a gown.
GORGEOUS!!!
I don’t like the colour combo, grey-orange-red-gold. And I don’t get a couture vibe. Disappointed.
I wanted to love it more than I actually do. It’s a great look in theory, but the fit of the top is not perfect, it sits too low and seems too tight, plus I don’t like the fact that the shoes and the bag are slighly mismatched.
hate it, and again this is couture! i miss the days when john galliano truly made dior couture a work of art.
I hate the accessories. They just don’t go with the outfit.
I don’t think it’s saying a lot to utilize a pop of color through shoes, for instance, just for the hell of it. It has to make some sort of sense. In fact, it just takes away the focus from the dress.
To be honest, her NYC outfit was way better. I’m not saying this is ugly but it’s not premiere worthy.
I won’t argue that it is a stunning look but like her previous one, it screams photocall instead of premiere in my opinion.
Her hair looks good from afar but far from good upclose.
She’s not the main star of the movie. I appreciate the restraint on her part to not outshine Anne but I’m glad that she still looked very chic while doing so.
I agree. I like the look, it’s very chic but definitely not event appropriate. It seems very casual to me…
Can someone ID the shoes please?
BDOTW definitely. Anne’s style has been terrible for this tour thus far. Marion’s just got better.
Dior
Shutting it down.
Like you said : PERFECTION !
She looks so perfect here that I could do a weep of joy!!
BDOTW for this week ends here for me 🙂
She looks really cute. I like the faux bob and the pops of red. I kinda miss her wearing a gown though.
There is not enough fabric on top to accomodate her bust area properly, would’ve been great with a few extra inches on the top part. Much prefer model’s styling with only one major colour pop via red lippie.
Agree 100 percent with every word!
Yes, I think you are absolutely right about the bodice, which seems to sit too low and be a bit tight for her bust.
As for the shoes, I respectfully disagree. But then, I am a complete sucker for red shoes!
YES
The hair the accesories the makeup the shoes the perfect dior wowan i totaly love bdtw for sure !!!!!!
Not a fan. Too naked on top. I just don’t think she can really carry this off.
+1 – i can feel the effort in a look that should have been effortless
Wow yes! She looks superb, love everything.
She’s perfection. I just wish the top wasn’t so low.
+1. It also would have balanced better with the skirt with a few more inches. All in all, still very chic.
I love this look ! This is so refreshing, and I love this makeup coordinated with her shoes.
Wow. This is just perfect. I was very excited to see this collection on the red carpet and Marion looks totally amazing. I can’t even believe it’s the same Marion who wore another Dior dress two days ago, but totally messed things up.
This is BDOTW worthy for me.
Love this look. It is so chic
This look is great for a protocol or some other non-premiere event but this is a massive premiere, so I want a gown or a couturey couture piece. This couture dress doesn’t look couture, even as chic as it is.
I feel Raf Simon’s Christian Dior Fall 2012 Couture was more Raf Simons Fall 2012 Couture than CHRISTIAN DIOR. Way too much Jil Sander and not enough CHRISTIAN DIOR.
“Doesn’t look couture”? I think people are confusing ‘couture’ with ‘costume’. Raf interprets the Dior codes in his own way as much as Galliano interpreted couture in his way.
Marion looks great and I’m glad that she chose a more subtle (yet chic) look as to not outshine Anne.
I think he said “It’s look more like Raf Simons Fall 2012 and Jil Sander” not about costume or fancy thing.
And I really think in the same way. It’s Dior not Jil Sander, Raf cannot made me believe that Marion Cotillard is wearing Dior.
It’s beautiful, yes. But is it beautiful enough like Galliano’s magic, No.
ITA!
Firstly I was lucky enough to go to the Haute Couture Atelier in Paris and examine these pieces up close. They are stunning and if one looks into the Archives of Christian Dior this show was very much a modernized version of Mr Dior’s pieces. So much so that Colin McDowell wrote in fashion business that Raf depended too much on the archives and did not allow his own talent to sign.
I too love JG but Dior has a very long heritage please familiarize yourself with the heritage before you say this was Jil Sander. It wasn’t.
Wow. You got to see these pieces in real life? I am BEYOND jealous. Totally agree with your point about most of the pieces in the collection being modernized incarnations of Monsieur Dior’s mid-century designs in terms of aesthetic and mood. And amidst the flurry of Sander vs Dior commentary which came from many people, McDowell’s piece was a breath of fresh air – he totally hit the nail on the head.
yes it was a real treat. we also went upstairs to the roof garden that Mr dior used to take his inspiration from. I understand what Mc Dowell wrote but I don’t think you can completely ignore the archives nor will he be allowed to do so. But it will be really interesting to see how he progresses,. I can’t wait for the ready to wear show.
TOTALLY agree with Paulo. This dress is couture at its very finest. If you looked up close and focused on the details here, you’d see that this incredible dress is made from layers of fabric laser-cut into grids and layed upon each other to make another fabric. Seriously incredible craftsmanship. If this isn’t couture or “doesn’t look like couture”, I don’t know what does. Marion looks splendid here.
As someone who completely adored every couture collection that Galliano presented for Dior (his S/S 2007 Madame Butterfly collection is my favourite of all time), I can safely say – “Viva Raf Simons for Dior!”

Stunning!
I actually like this more on Marion than on the model. She would definitely be one of my contenders for BDOTW.
+1 It looks way better on her and she looks fantastic.
So much better than that disaster white outfit from earlier in the week! She looks radiant here! Perfection all around.
