As you know I was unmoved by Diane Kruger’s previous look, but this is the Diane I know and love.
The German actress joined a host of stars including boyfriend Joshua Jackson, Coco Rocha and Adrien Brody on Friday evening at the Salle Empire, Hotel de Paris in Monaco for an intimate and exclusive gala presented by Jacob Arabo of Jacob & Co. to support two wonderful charities: the Princess Charlene Foundation (supported by Princess Charlene of Monaco) and the Monegasque Association against Muscular Dystrophy (supported by HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco).
Diane looked stunning wearing a Marchesa Resort 2013 gown, our first look at this collection since it was recently presented.
Never one to play by the ‘rules’, she opted to mix her metals teaming dazzling silver Jacob & Co. pieces with her white gown enriched with gold embellishments.
The gown has a lot going on with the flock of feathers on the sleeves and empire waist. Some may have been overwhelmed by such a striking, show-stopping gown, but Diane carries it off with great aplomb.
I would place this over the Alaia in BDOTW poll.
Do you agree?

Marchesa excels at making lovely women look tacky.
This look over her washed out bland Alaia easily.
I disagree. I liked the Alaia better than this.
ITA. I think the Alaia should be in the BDOTW poll.
So did I.
+1
this is proof marchesa just throw things on dresses and hope for the best “lets add more sparkles and feathers”. this could have been lovely without the feathers.
Marchesa gowns do nothing for me. Gowns with feathers seem ridiculous. I like the Alaia gown more.
I agree with you, plus I hate feathers, I cannot look at clothes without thinking about dead animals. The dress would be lovely without them, so I prefer the Alaia dress. I would choose that look for the BDOTW poll.
I am not a fan of the top half of the dress. It looks funny and too costumey.
I picked the Alaia over this dress.
I would too, she looks beautiful. On someone else, I would hate this dress, but on her I love it.
I am rarely a Marchesa fan. This looks quite regal on Diane, but it reads like a costume in a 1930′s movie to me.
I totally agree.
She looks absolutely radiant!
Not many people could pull this off!!
I agree; the Alaia is classic, sexy, & simply beautiful! I feel like we’ve seen this frou frou Marchesa dress many times before. Alaia for BDOTW!
+1
I love it from the neck up. The rest belongs in Tackyville. Marchesa rarely hits the mark these days, the brand has lost its wow factor.
Omg I’ve been obsessed w this gown ever since they showed it on style.com
I think it’s a hard dress to get but it’s really old school and chic
Kruger as usual nails it
I find the dress very ugly, to be honest.
It’s the Alaia over this for me.
Marchesa have really gone downhill in my opinion i don’t like this at all screams tacky.
Not even Diane Kruger can alleviate my disdain for Marchesa.
I say let’s have both in the BDOTW poll – she looks great in anything really – and I am not sure of how this would’ve looked on someone else
Love this!
I quite like it, the feathers and golds details reminds me the Prabal Gurung dress she wore at Cannes
dont like the cuff
I think I would like this dress better without the feathers around the waist. I think she pulls this off.
She looks great in both looks but I prefer her Alaia look actually.
I can’t believe how many people dislike this dress. I think it’s gorgeous. Marchesa can be a little “top of the cake” for me but I love this. It’s regal.
Neither a fan of feathers nor Marchesa, it would be better without the feathers on her waistline.
The Alaia is so much better.
I usually find Marchesa gowns offputting but Dianehas the enviable ability to look classy, ethereal and/or angelic in anything she wears.
I am not feeling it – I don’t really like it. I like her Alaia look better.
Everyone would have been all over this if the gown were Chanel. Even though as of late most of the Marchesa gowns have left much to be desired, it still irks me that people don’t trash other brands with hideous collections as regularly. (Stella McCartney, anyone? How about Marc Jacobs?)
I think she pulls it off.
My thoughts exactly. If someone would have told me this was Chanel I would have believed it (also because she has worn the brand for years).
Anyhow, this type of busy glamorous look suits her since she always keeps hair & make-up rather simple.
She could wear anything and look good because she always wears it with class.
This dress looks terrible and tacky. The Alaia is plain and boring but looks way better than this.
Love the way she looks in this dress.
This is better than many of Marchesa’s recent disasters, but this is mainly due to the fact that Diane can pull off almost everything.
I really disliked the hair in the Alaia look, but I still would pick that look over this one any time.
Goddess.
The alaia does not make the cut for BDOTW.. am on the fence on this look… she does carry it off with aplomb.. but the feathers are a bit much!
Her hair and makeup is flawless! I do like this look but I think I like the Alaia look better
Hate the earrings. The dress is not awesome but OK.
NO one can wear this and look as good as she is looking. I love this on her. Whole lot better than the Alaia.
I love Diane. Nearly every look from her I adore 100%, yet the disaster of a brand that is Marchesa nullifies Diane’s style.
