As we’ve discovered from several appearances at Cannes Film Festival, Eva Longoria is the girl for the big occasion.
Following her photocall earlier in the week at the 52nd Monte Carlo TV Festival, the actress attended the closing ceremony this evening dressed in a Marchesa Fall 2011 gown.
Usually Eva kills in Marchesa, but on this occasion when it comes to this strapless draped origami gown, all I see is fabric. Too much fabric.
It is better on the red carpet than on the model, but I don’t get this look.
It doesn’t showcase her hot body, and the nude inserts and train are a bit random.
I just don’t know where this one was going.

yeah NO.
I believe this dress won’t work on anyone, since it overwhelms even the model. It kind of looks like a bed sheet. I think this is a first time I hate a piece from Marchesa.
This dress is a MESS. Looks like it was made using pinking shears… and, although I rarely like Marchesa gowns, this one is especially horrible. It looks like a Project Runway one day project… And those eyelashes… surprised she can hold her eyes open.
She looks like she is wrapped in Charmin.
LOL, I was totally thinking a failed Project Runway dress. It is so unfinished with all those strings hanging off.
it looks a mess on eva, i dont get why she insists on wearing such “big” dresses she just doesnt have the attitude to pull them off.
whaaaaaaaat? “She just doesnt have the attitude to pull them off”? , Jeeesus, i think that yees, this dress is bizarre, but, ONLY Eva Longoria, could made this dress looks better than the runway model, with a simple styling, and a complementary hair and makeup.
I really don’t like the dress but, Eva Longoria, been as short as she is , keeps shocking me with her hability of wearing huge gowns and making them all work…
But well that’s my opinion, this dress in other person, would have been like JESUS THIS IS HORRIBLE, a dissaster, but in her, is just like, well i’ve seen better, she looks nice awful dress but, she looks pretty.
I think she is totally bringing the attitude to try to pull off this mess of a gown.
I think the gown is just awful and unflattering to begin with.
She’s usually very good at picking dramatic gowns that won’t swamp her small frame. This time, no!
It vaguely reminds me of when my daughter was about five and would try to dress up using a queen-sized sheet.
Eva should wear gowns exclusively
It looks horrid on the model and on Eva. Way too cluttered with fabric.
This dress just looks like it was made out of paper taken from a paper shredder. There’s something very toilet paper about the “ruffles” around the midriff, I barely even noticed how tight this was on her bust.
Wrapped in paper
The only thing I like here is the mermaid global shape of the gown. Such a shame that there are too much fabric, as you said, and that the finishing touches are so coarse.
Don’t mind being the lone voice of dissent,
I love this look. I think the alterations were perfect, I get it and I think Eva looks amazing.
Although I don’t love the look, I kind of agree with you in some ways. I don’t completely hate this and I think she pulls it off. The dress itself would be nothing without her confidence.
Frumpy bedsheets + 80 kg. of makeup = Total mess & fail
The gown is a mess, can’t possibly pass as “origami” detailing but kudos to Eva for not being intimidated by it, looks like she is doing her best with it, great attitude.
Definitely not Eva’s best look! Agreed far too much fabric. Also the back looks strangely unfinished compared with the front…even taking into account that the whole thing looks unfinished.
Maybe next time she’ll surprise us and wear a white strapless gown with a train…she is to those what Jennifer Aniston is to black and Cheryl Cole is to tacky prints.
Oh, the makeup! It’s horrendous! And the back of the dress! These nude panels are dreadful. It’s a shame because I think I’d have liked the look without these 2 elements.
Its an awful dress – it looks like they cut up a bed sheet and made a dress out of it. That being said, it is somewhat redeemed by Eva. It looks better on her than the model. I am puzzled as to why she chose this dress. This is not her at all.
That is one CHEAP looking, and FUG looking gown. A no from me on this occasion.
I hate this dress…this is a terrible look for Eva. I neither like her make up….
When will this woman realise that she is a tiny human being?!
Agree this dress looks a mess. Don’t know what the model is wearing in her hair, it just looks as if she has rather large ears!
The picture of the back is terrible, looks like the dress has been hacked to pieces that but back together but was not finished!! No No No! I also think she has been hanging around Victoria too long, the pout is silly.
i dont like the make up
Dear Eva – the hotel manager just called. He wants the bedsheets back.
Can we just call an embargo on all Marchesa gowns? They SO rarely do it for me anymore on the red carpet.
Really bad.
Looks like someone rolled in honey and toilet paper sheets.
Marchesa is absolutely THE WORST.
Bad …
She seems to almost always wear strapless gowns. Same dress, just different colors and details.
Reminds me of a draped hotel bedspread.
