Meryl Streep helped celebrate Shirley MacLaine at the 40th AFI Life Achievement Award held in her honour at Sony Pictures Studios in Culver City, California yesterday evening.
The actress wore a pretty Valentino Spring 2012 Couture ensemble.
An ivory sheer lace blouse was teamed with an ivory-and-pink floral maxi skirt accented with a bow at the waist.
This silhouette seems to be favoured by the actress as she wore similar looks during the awards season.

Stunning! She’s such a class act!
+1
She looks amazing !
This is one of her best look . Amazing .
I admire and respect this LADY for her style… Age appropriate, with an edge of modernity.
I love this ensemble, the colors, the pattern. Very FRESH and summer appropriate!
I think this is kinda matronly. I know she is an older woman but this seems very peasant-like to me. Maybe if the top were coral or some deeper color I would like this more.
Meryl Streep will never stray too far away from her Mary Poppins sense of style will she?
But this is beautiful.
I like it from the waste up. The colors are wonderful for her complexion and for the season.
It may be “age appropriate,” but it is not age-flattering, IMO. A trimmer skirt would have worked better and avoided the school-marm-on-the-prairie vibe.
I actually prefer the nearly 80-yr-old Shirley MacLaine’s look, although it isn’t as summery.
Wow, she looks great!
Possibly the best outfit I’ve ever seen her in! She looks phenomenal. I love love love this!
I’ve had a weakness for this silhouette since the Jil Sander collection, and honestly, this is just amazing. The colours are so flattering on her!
this looks as if it belongs in the little house on the prairie. the print looks like it came from old womans curtains.
I love Maryl Streep, but her clothing choices are almost always so frumpy. I think that she doesn’t think she is pretty, but she looked amazing in the Devil Wears Prada and I think if she had more confidence she would dress much better.
I know this look is very “Little House on the Prairie” and yet I love it. The blouse and skirt are so pretty!
Oh, Meryl. She’s been on too many stages. Now she just goes ahead and wears the curtain.
