The words ‘Katherine Heigl’ and ‘sexy’ aren’t always used in the same sentence, but that is the first thing that came to mind when I saw the actress on the red carpet at the 40th AFI Life Achievement Awards Honoring Shirley MacLaine in LA yesterday evening.
Katherine wore a Monique Lhuillier Fall 2010 gown.
Her asymmetrically draped gown with gunmetal embroidery had a daring thigh-high split, which she wasn’t afraid to make full use of.
Camilla Skovgaard gunmetal strappy sandals, a cocktail ring and a black Judith Leiber clutch accessorized her look.
I’m not sure about the fuchsia pink lips, but they are rather refreshing than just nude, which we see a lot on the red carpet.
Sexy or trying too hard to be sexy?

I really dislike her hair, it looks so thin and unhealthy. In my opinion that styling fits an 80-year old better.
Seriously, hate to break it to you but Katherine Heigl and sexy are ALWAYS used in the same sentence. The woman is gorgeous – although the hair and makeup are off in this look.
Each to their own. Beauty or in this case sexiness is in the eye of the beholder.

I think she is beautiful by definition and the dress looks great on her. She often makes very odd fashion choices, so I think this dress is a step in the right direction. Agree the hair is aging–same as on Naomi Watts. Occasionally this style works, but not here.
I agree with Rebecca above, she does look kind of old here. It’s definitely the hair and makeup (minus the pink lips). Other than that I agree that she looks great here! The pink lip is a nice touch.
Trying too hard to pull off a Jolie. The dress is fine, but the hair is horrendous, the shoes are clunky, and the lipstick is garish. She is so naturally beautiful — how does she keep messing that up?!
The hair bothers me a little but I love the rest of the look. She nearly always looks sexy to me no matter what she wears.
The dress is nice and I especially like the shoes but she always looks 10 years older than she is. Unless she’s lying about her age, wikipedia says she’s 33.
It could just be her makeup and the hair is totally brittle and has a grandma style to it. Girl needs to get some bangs and stop with the hairspray or use a conditioning treatment.

Sexy! The dress is just right for her!
I love it from the neck down. The dress is fantastic and I absolutely love her strappy sandals. Too bad her hair and makeup are so awful, otherwise this would be a BDOTW contender for me. I also don’t like how she seems to be pulling an Angelina Jolie. As a joke, it’s funny, but no one should copy the ridiculous overuse of the split Angelina did.
