It looks like Dakota Fanning’s bun at the CFDA Fashion Awards was just a teaser, as the talented actress was back to sporting a familiar hairstyle on the red carpet for the 40th AFI Life Achievement Award honoring Shirley MacLaine, held at Sony Pictures Studios in Culver City, California yesterday evening.
The actress looked beautiful wearing a Gucci Pre-Fall 2012 gown.
This coral silk georgette v-neck pleated gown thankfully isn’t within her usual nude colour palette, but some of you may argue that it’s not too far away.
Her bi-colour gown was styled with interesting black Gucci accessories, which included a leather studded belt, a suede studded clutch and strappy sandals.

This has got to be the best I’ve ever seen her, I can’t complain about the hair this time as everything seems effortless and pretty. Very well executed I think.
Yay, a color! And a color she looks great in — very pretty! The hair is the same as always, but it also kind of works with the laid-back ’70s vibe of the whole outfit. And LOVE the glasses!
Nothing much to add, I agree with the previous commentators: even if she’s sporting the old same hairstyle, she looks amazing here. The gown is so pretty and suits her well without feeling too dejavu.

I wish that the neckline was not so revealing. I don’t think it’s appropriate. If it were a more modest v-neck or a scoop-neck, I would really like this looks and say it was one of her best ever! The color is nice on her, I like the black touches, and her hair has a bit more body than usual. The hair actually works for me here.
